Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One price : inflation adjusted for PS3 comparison

Man I got screwed!! I bought my first computer in 1992 and paid 2000$. Our first family VCR cost us 600$ in 1984. Inflation means nothing in electronics.

The price is simply too expensive. It will sell out at launch but that doeant mean it will be success long term.

Like it really matters in the wake of a crippling recession that all three of the biggest markets are still digging out of. Europe especially, but the US isn't exactly swimming in dough right now either. And if you're talking about inflation, wages are recovering at an even slower rate than jobs are for all but the wealthy.

$500 for a console is stupid in this economy, whether Sony or MS do it--just as stupid as pricing the Vita at $250. This isn't '05-'06 anymore.

+1. *Nods*

Lol at thread. Because consumers factor in inflation...

Xbox One ($499) cheaper than PS3 ($599) at launch in America but more expensive than PS3 launch in the UK at £429 vs £425. Inflation or no inflation that makes no sense, the exchange rate has changed that much surely

I'm sorry... what?

You are making efforts to rationalize bad decisions of a company you like. Over the last two weeks it should have become clear to you that Microsoft is about to drive against a wall and today's announcement of the launch price sealed the deal. Yet here you are and tell us that everything is okay.

What will the kowenicki of 2014 be like? Will he tell us that the X1 sells well for its price? That the X1 doesn't sell better, because the market is too stupid to understand its value? That people only hate the X1, because they are too poor to afford one?

lol not happening in a million year... best exemple here PS3 itself.... they sold just as well in the end.... and with MS projecting to remodel they entire business divisions putting XB win8/RT wp8 and hardware in one division they'll be able to leverage price cut better than ever... and the buzz is already catching up with amazon solding out pre orders.... XB1 will sell like hot cake anybody doubting that is just a fool especially since the XB1 is not aimed at the youngest strate of the gamer's crowd.... there core buyers is closer to 30+ than 20 years old... witch makes a 600 price tag way less an issue than for other aiming at more money constrained population.... I despise Sony but I'm sure they'll do well with their race horse this year too way better than PS3 even with a 600 price tag if it's the same as XB1

and at 4h30am I should be in bed cause my spelling is just getting worst than ever sorry... but anyway they could sell just a 1000 XB1 I wouldn't care as long as I have mine and can enjoy all it has to offer... don't really care about the sales number as long as the content follows and yes that includes stuff way beyond gaming for me, which means way less expenses on several devices down the line .... on that good night...

I was really hoping it wouldnt be over 400. am still going to get it, but it may take longer now

Can we apply inflation to the PS4 price?

My God you would think we never had a console over 399.99 on the market but the very people here to hate were backing Sony when the PS3 was launching at a higher price tag.

Just wait til after the price for PS4 is shown, not only will it be higher but in typical fashion they will completely change their stance on price.

The PS4's launch price will be higher than $499.99? You actually think that?

There is no way, PS4 will be cheaper.  PS4 has to hit the groud running from a financial persepctive for Sony.

lol ha!
