Could be interesting, free to Play is the way to go for the fighting genre.
Have a full price retail version for core fans. Suck new players in with a few characters and few maps and limited online play.
Price expansions at $9.99.
Namco don't seem to know what to do with their older franchises lately; first Ridge Racer and now this.
Hope it works out for them. I'll probably give this a shot since it's free!
Tekken Revolution, the first free-to-play entry in the Namco Bandai fighting game series, is coming to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network this Tuesday, June 11.
The game will offer an initial cast of eight playable characters. Players will be able to battle against AI opponents in Arcade Mode or other players through online Ranked and Player matches.
It will offer new Special Arts and Critical Arts moves designed to help newcomers.
A Tekken series first, Revolution will also allow players to level up their characters, increasing their Strength, Endurance, and Vigor attributes. You can develop a defensive tank character with high health and the ability to withstand knockout blows, or you can build a high offense player with lower health but higher critical attack rates.

Wonder if it will be like Doa5 ultimate, which is most likely. Release other characters for money. hopefully there will be a complete release as well.
Also Harada on 360 version.
Ask Microsoft yourself. I already asked them about free to play of the console last year. RT @dgdouglas15: how about on xbox 360? :(

Seems cool this level up system... I will try.
