All I read on these forums is the negatives about these changes, not one of you relentlessly bashing these changes has any foresight to see the future benefits of this system. In 5 years time a lot of you are going to look frankly stupid imo. The change is coming as Steam has shown over the last 10 years, it's time you all started considering all the angles and not just your negative narrow viewpoint.

A connected console was always the direction Microsoft was taking ever since they committed to building the Xbox Live environment. In a few years you will see Sony desperately back tracking to add a internet connection requirement for a enhanced experience as you see all the extra functionality that having a permanent internet connection will produce.

I've never been without internet for 24 hours in over 10 years at home and for the last 4/5 years I've always had a backup 3G wifi connection courtesy of my phone wherever I go, some people really do live in the dark ages if this site is to be believed.

Don't bother quoting/replying to me, I have no intention of debating with the same people rehashing the same whinging that they've been doing for the last 3 weeks. We'll see by the end of the year just how many people are really bothered by these policies outside of gaming forums.

I feel the same, I also have had a internet connection for a long time. Also with the Google fiber coming out. It's only a matter of time prices drop drastically and everyone is online.

ok reading the other comments i believe i understood something wrong lol

I know, I know people have preferences and opinions but if they hate the small "problem" of having a console connect to the internet once over 24 hours, wtf are they doing on an always online forum/twitter to complain about it? Can't afford the internet? You won't be able to afford a new X1 either.

Most things have DRM these days, people need to grow up.

This is fucking terrible. Anyone who buys an Xbone and endorses this kind of policy is doing a disservice to gaming.

I could actually swallow the no-used game bullshit.

But the 24 hour online check seals the deal for me. No way in hell I'd get this console.

If Sony does the same, btw, I'm out.

I fully endorse the benefits Xbox one looks to offer with its always on aspect, and I don't see anything dealbreaking with these policies... So I guess I'm doing a disservice to gaming.

Looking forward to building my personal Xbox One gaming collection that I can access anywhere and anytime.

Of course you dont have a problem with anything microsoft does ever.

You like what they tell you to like.

If sony was doing this and microsoft was not your sentiments would be the opposite.

I swear its like you've known me all my life...

Nah HUGE fanboys are easy to spot.

Even if they think they are not fanboys well looking down on another group of fanboys well showing the exact same behavior as those fanboys.

Good luck with that one.

Considering MS were all like, "Good luck with the reveal today" in Feb and he says things like that all the time... It's sort of petty. Though I do think number 2 and 4 are funny.

Edit: Major Nelson even said "Well Done" for The Last of Us too... At least he's showing respect. Sony, while some are funny, are acting like they're in High School.

- Some apps and games may require Kinect functionality to operate, so you’ll need to turn it back on for these experiences

Can someone please clarify:

Does this mean that I can simply keep Kinect unattached as long as I don't play any games that don't necessarily need Kinect?

If so, then one of my main concerns about the Xbox One has just disappeared.

As long as I can keep either the Internet or Kinect constantly unattached, I might accept the system.

From what I understand, you still need to have Kinect physically plugged into the system for the Xbox One to operate, however you can disable the cam and mic sensors on Kinect in the system settings. Therefore, if apps require Kinect you will have to re-enable the Kinect sensors before using the app or game.

But if I can completely disable Kinect, why can't I simply keep it unattached?

If that's really correct, I find it very suspicious. Microsoft is obviously very well aware that many people are feeling uneasy about all the "Orwellian surveillance device" reports about Xbox One, and this is probably already their reaction to it.

But Microsoft must have be very well aware that the possibility to simply keep Kinect unattached would be an extremely simple and in fact the only reliable way to calm down these peoples fears and to end the discussion.

But instead, they decided to go for a more complicated software solution that still forces you to attach the sensor and still forces people to simply trust Microsoft. Why?

You do know that is a parody account right and not actually Kaz.
