Licensing

- Play any of your games from any Xbox One console after signing in and installing
- This is possible because a copy is also stored in the cloud
- Share game access with everyone inside your home
- Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One
- “We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers. Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.”
- Publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends
- There are no fees charged as part of these transfers
- Requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once
- Microsoft Studios will enable you to give your games to friends or trade in your Xbox One games at participating retailers
- Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers
- Microsoft does not receive any compensation as part of this
- Third party publishers can enable you to give games to friends
- Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch

So basically EA can block you from doing those things.

The fun never ends...

Exactly these are the points that I am most concerned about.

Probably publishers wont make all these restrictions from the start. But when XBone is established it is in their hand to completely control your games.

Sony already confirmed they will leave it to the publishers to do this, just like MS.
I doubt Sony will kill online passes they already selling for a few years. They were the first manufacturer that actually used those.

So DRM for 3rd party and online passes for 1st party is the most likely scenario on the PS4.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I really don't understand why people complain a lot about MS policy on XBOX ONE. Will it really change our gaming life?

I really don't know anyone around me doesn't connect to PSN or XBLIVE when they play games. Now, I think the majority people use WIFI connection. It means when the console is switched on, it will be automatically connected to internet. So why can't you connect to internet only once per 24hrs?

microsoft is taking a huge risk..a sorely miscalculated one..just look at what happened when they(GOVERNMENT) RECENTLY TRIED TO REGULATE THE INTERNET..the people rebelled..

About used games, now it will depend on 3rd party. I think it will be the same as Sony. Why only MS takes all the shots?

Anyway, I am for sure will get my XBOX ONE on day one. And for sure I will enjoy all games on XBOX ONE.

By the way, I never resell any game I purchased. I still own many previous gen games and I will keep them forever. So used game issue doesn't bother me at all.

If you really like games, why will you trade them in again?

well if sony does the same then i think the history will repeat itself and we may see some kind of video game crash akin to the 80's and nintendo will be fhere to save the day again..lol

i foresee droves of hardcore boycotting the systems and the casual sticking with ps3/360 or moving on to IOS Apple...unless nintendo fills the void

In 15-20 Years time, when the Xbox One is no longer supported and the servers shut down...

What will consumers do with Xbox One videogames?

Nothing, the games will be unplayable and the value of their collections will hit zero.

Welcome to the digital age, luddites. Steam is working out just fine, there was the same backlash before but now we get great sales, redownload anytime you want, and play on multiple PCs. The benefits of steam far outweighs the cons and discs do not last forever, they get broken, lost, or rot which means you are SOL.

Disc based gaming and lending out to friends was a loophole waiting to be closed, because it's more fair that the devs get paid per person who plays the game. They just didn't have anyway of tracking that so it probably was built into the price of the game. This way it will probably be more fair instead of eventually making games to be hundreds of dollars to account for the leechers who don't contribute back anything even though they get to play the game for free or nearly free as a loaner or rental.

I agree with this 10%. Well put.
