just like VITA got the generation locked several months before launch.

Vita is a handheld and ps4 is home console it is a different story

You are right; but trolls want to troll and nothing more.

Except it's not necessarily trolling.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/10/22/the-playstation-vita-is-set-to-succeed

We had many articles like this one back then. Look how it turned out...Praising a console before its (and the competitor's) release is dangerous.

However I do think the PS4 is in a good position to succeed. Unlike MS Sony managed not to completely fuck the PR up, devs seem to like the console, the specs are good, gamers also seem to like it so far.

You can also find  many article said Vita will fail before it is out and people who believe Vita will win the generation are little compered to people who think it will loose.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

on the one hand competition is good...

..on the other hand timed-exclusives, console specific DLC,  split multi-player communities are all downsides.  i hate the FUD sony and ms throw at each other.  to get the "full" experience i have to get CoD on xbone but destiny on ps4?!?  fuck that shit.    ..and with more and more games being community based the split userbase sucks.  more than just CoD/halo/uncharted should have a viable online communities.   if ps4/xbone could somehow have cross-platform multiplayer (which it won't) us gamers would be rewarded for it.

so yeah,.. or maybe at least.  i guess what i'm saying is there are both pros and cons.

i also hate retailer specific pre-order bonuses.  what the shit?!?

About the only gamers who are against a dominating console are those who are on the losing end, either by choice or by force (i.e. lack of money to buy the system that ended up dominating).

Besides, the entire argument that competition is needed, so that a monopolistic company won't abuse consumers can be buried for good with the Xbox One reveal. Competition doesn't stop such behavior. On the flipside, a company doesn't need competition to operate in a consumer-friendly manner. It's all a matter of company mentality, whether or not there is competition is pretty much irrelevant.

Hardware competition isn't needed as motivation for developers to make better games either. What happens when developers flock to one dominating system is the NES, SNES, PS1 and PS2 which just so happen to be the consoles that are agreed upon by every gamer to belong into the top 10 systems of all time.

Rol just does not know how to keep his fans....

Sony will have a great E3 and they have been on a roll since 1994 :D

you will get an idea after E3 i think. but Sony truly played their cards right those past 3 years and they gave me the best experience i've ever had with the PS3. not to mention the PS3 and PS4 will co-exist in the next few years which will help boost Sony's reputation in the video game business.

I would say right now the market is wide open for all three and feels like who stumbles the least will "win" the next generation. On Sony, I need to know what price they are launching at before making any guesses on how the next year will go.

If Xbox One is not fail prone Hardware...good luck in the states sony..

They don't need to win the States, as the PS3 has now proven. They just need to be competitive there, which they will be without a $600 price tag and year behind.

Well All MS has to do have Hardware that does not fail and they should gain ground in the UK...Sony has MLB the Show for the states so that should do them good...Not that I like Sports games..or Baseball sports game....But in my personal expirience with MLB the Show versus EPSN's 2k game Sony has gameplay hands down..MLB the Show is so much better than 2k12 it was like trying to milk a cat compared to Sony's well made baseball game...Sony will have Japan for sure and a reasonable part of the US and UK sales

there is no way they cud fuck this up imo. the ps3 literally had everything wrong and it somehow turned out to be my favorite system of all time.

I think a lot depends on if Xbox one is available at a big discount from cable providers I can see a lot of parents getting it for the dvr and tv features for themselves and gaining for the kids if that happens Sony will be at a huge disadvantage

Well, if laid off 30K workers is a path to greatness, sure.

Vita says hello.

No and No. and calling tlou best game of the generation seems too much of a stretch by itself, and a much bigger stretch considering the game, you know, ISN'T OUT YET!!
