Forums - Sony - Jeff Rubenstein On Polygon's The Last Of Us Review

Aw c'mon... opinions people, while there's the possibility, you can't expect them to be the same, each person's perception and approach (to everything) is different.

Well he is absolutely right, it is clearly complete nonsense

And before people say he is unprofessional, he doesn't work for Sony any more

Which still doesn't make it any more professional.

This is just a former Sony employee, he can do what he wants

My favorite review is NoGamer calling it one of this generations best, but than giving it an 8.5 lol.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Of course he can. Never implied otherwise.

So they payed every single reviewer and this one decided to not take the money?

What's more likely? That Sony payed 25+ websites to give perfect scores or that Polygon is wrong about their review?

I'll go with the latter. When the general consensus is that this game is fucking amazing and you go and give it a 75. YOU ARE WRONG. PERIOD.

It is possible for your opinion to be wrong. External factors such as bias and getting your website funded by Microsoft are also factors.

It is not unprofessional, I have no idea what his job is. Isn't this the point of twitter, get behind the PR?

Come on, VGKing. I'm sure The Last of Us is an amazing game, but we can't automatically charge reviewers with incompetence or fraud just because a score lies outside the average.

Not every critic should agree with one another. The critical consensus is that The Last of Us is a terrific piece of software, but not everyone will arrive at that consensus. Surely there are games out there where you strongly disagree with the consensus and agree with the outlier?

How can an opinion be wrong exactly...?

Nicely put.

An opinion cannot ever be wrong, that is a fact, an opinion is just the representation of what one person feels toward a certain subject.

An opionion can be misguided or without logic, but it cannot be wrong.
