So my accelerator cable snapped, i had no accelertator pedal, my brother had to pull what was left of the cable so i could get home, was an interesting method of driving, my brother has definitely become my goose now!

Haha same thing happened me 2 weeks ago. I tied the throttle open in the engine bay and drove with the clutch/ignition.

Pretty simple. All the pedal itself does is move the cable. The other end is connected onto the throttle which is basically a valve that cuts off air to the engine. When the pedal is pressed the throttle body opens allowing more air in. 

By pulling the wire by hand you are opening the valve still but you will have very little control.
