Turn 10 Studios' upcoming Xbox One racer Forza Motorsport 5 will run at 60 frames per second in native 1080p resolution, the studio has confirmed.

Speaking in an interview with GameSpot about the pressure of developing a Forza Motorsport in time for the Xbox One launch later in 2013, Turn 10 Studios' content director John Wendel said, "I believe we're uniquely positioned to deliver on that challenge. We're a huge epic game that's going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it's an incredible opportunity on one hand, but you have to be incredibly flexible and agile and self-aware on the other hand."

Elsewhere, in an interview with the latest issue of UK gaming magazine Edge, Microsoft Studios vice president Phil Spencer said that Microsoft will not force its Xbox One developers to adhere to specific frame rates or resolutions.

"It's important we give creators the best tools to create the best experience possible," said Spencer, "and I don't think that platform holders can dictate what the internal frame buffer size should be."

"Forza 5 runs at 60 frames per second, but other people will make different trade-offs," said Spencer, adding that "resolution is not the thing that maximises beauty."

2011's Forza Motorsport 4 ran at 60fps in 720p, but last year's spin-off, Forza Horizon, dropped to a frame rate of 30fps.

Forza Motorsport 5 will be released later in 2013 alongside the Xbox One.

well, i think people talk about multiplat games. if a game is made only for xb1 it could obviously also run with 60fps and in 1080p but that would maybe cost so much power that the graphics itself wouldn't be that good anymore.

on topic: 60fps for a "real" forza was obvious, that's already the case this gen and would be crazy to change. and i think it also means it will be only 720p, otherwise he would probably have said 1080p and wouldn't say all the time how unimportant the resolution is^^

So forza is not gonna be the definitive next gen racer like drive club and project cars it seems to me. If it truely runs at 720p then it should graphically compare to drive club but with 2x the res. Drive club just kills it. Really excited about next gen though :)

Last I checked, quality makes the game. Turn 10 never disapoints. But offcourse its gonna look gorgeous.

no but the guy always said resolution isn't that important (which is obviously true for most who play on a tv) and he said it is 60fps. don't you think he would say 60fps and 1080p if it would be like that?

True, but he didn't confirm it either. Just irritating that the guy thinks that 1080p = definitive game, regardless of actual quality.....sigh
