Forums - Gaming - To DRM or Not To DRM That Is The Question

Select the option you would choose if you had a choice

Full Version No DRM $60+ 24 55.81%

Digital Version - Obvious DRM $40 9 20.93%

Hard Copy - DRM $40 10 23.26%

Total:43

the internet has been raging over having their "rights" taken away over they way they manage their games.  while i may defend it's usage sometimes for my own personal reasons, there are better ways that this stuff could be handle.  so i was thinking how these companies can handle it.

so im going to see if you guys think of the idea.  what if they had both a license and unlicense version wish would you choose

$20 $19.99

Can we easily part with the DRM (licence) attached to the Hard Copy DRM version?

Hmm, pie.

The only way I would accept DRM is if at the end of the gem they send a patch to kill it.

Then I will be able to play MY OWN games 20 years from now when the services are down on any damn console i may own in that period.

Where's the option for with DRM for 60+? If anyone thinks DRM will bring the price down, they are dreaming.

LOL I agree.

You've gotta pay more for the privilege of being inconvenienced.

Well I chose the no DRM, because games drop in price after a while anyway, so I'll by most of my games at $40 even in a no DRM world.

The poll is a failure. DRM doesn't affect price at all. I don't think I've seen it happen even once.

Either way, my choice is without DRM. I refuse to pay more than 10€ for anything that has DRM in it, aside from a couple of Steam games perhaps if I trust the publisher (and Steam only, because Valve is the only company I trust at all with their DD service).

I'd pay more to permanently own the game. That means no DRM -and- it not being "licensed" to me.

you calling the poll a failure is a failure.  the question is if there was a choice not that its a reality.

as for your decision there was a study that suggested if the price was $40 and had drm that the companies revenues would increase.  the problem is these companines charging expensive rates for these games so more people buy used to save money.  why pay 60 when you can wait a week or 2 and pay 40 with no compensation to the developer
