Forums - Gaming - Your most disappointing moment from an E3

Nintendo's E3 2008 press conference. That was when I first learned what true betrayal felt like.

Then E3 2009 had Metroid: Other M to keep me happy until it actually came out, becoming an even bigger disappointment.

But by then, E3 2010 immediately sold me on the 3DS thanks to Paper Mario, OoT3D, Kid Icarus, and those beautiful Resident Evil screenshots. And then I bought the 3DS at launch, which amounted to many months of continued disappointment as many announced games were pushed into 2012.

Then the 3DS game I was most excited for, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, turned out to be decent at best. Not even close to what I hoped for.

The disappointment never ends, I tell you!

30 minutes of wonderbook last year...

I'm not really a Sony fan, pretty much Nintendo fanboy exclusively, but I was half-watching Sony's conference last year with a friend of mine (HUGE Sony fanboy) while playing Xenoblade Chronicles at the same time, and even I was like..."What are they doing??!...." haha...I just remember playing my game...looking up to see them announcing Wonderbook...going back to Xenoblade...ten minutes later I look up and they're still talking about Wonderbook...back to game...five minutes later...now they're demoing Wonderbook....and at that point I put the game down just to see how much longer they were REALLY going to talk about it. It was painful, even for someone who isn't a fan of Sony. And to make things worse, Nintendo pulled a similar stunt with nearly twenty minutes of them explaining how Luigi's Ghost Mansion worked in Nintendo Land to END their conference. *facepalm*

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Five Hundred Ninedy Nine US dollars...

Fixed! And this. Luckily I didn't have to buy my PS3. ^_^

Pretty much all of Sony's E3 presence in '06.

I was a dyed-in-the-wool Sony fanboy up until that point. Prior to that E3, I had a sheet of paper taped to my door where I tabulated all the money I had saved up in anticipation for getting one: the ink from the marker is still on the door even now. I was sure that it wouldn't cost any more than the Premium 360 SKU @ $400, and that the line-up of games would be absolutely amazing in the wake of the PS2's complete dominance.

Then at the actual conference, what do we get? $599 dollars for the full featured box, and an pathetic software showcase. The whole thing screamed "FUCK YOU WE DON'T CARE! WE SOLD PS2'S OUT THE ASS! WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT AND YOU MORONS WILL STILL BUY IT!"

I didn't follow gaming news nearly as much as I do now. But the level of arrogance and blind stupidity told me more than enough. At that point, most of my hype died off. I ended up getting the PS3 a year later, mainly because my parents helped foot the bill in a big way and I didn't want to deal with any red ring nonsense from the 360. And then I ended up using it for PS2 games 90% of the time until DMC4 and Street Fighter 4 came out.

Looking back, my view of Sony, and the industry in general, never really recovered from that. Mainly due to all the bullshit that this generation has dumped on us over the past 8 years.

kinect/move debut

God that was painful. Sorcery looked good though.

Last year's Nintendo E3 when the entire presentation was disapointing. I was SOOO excited to FINALY see some WiiU games, and it started with a bang with Myamoto entering the stage like a boss (like usual) and talking about Pikmin3. After that it was all boring and I thought the Nintendo Land talk would never end.

And THIS in paticular is my most disapointing moment ever. It was when it seemed that Reggie was about to wrap things up after a 20min of Nintendo Land... And then he says ''we got one more thing for you'' (or something like that). And at that moment I knew that was it, that was the moment I've been waiting so long for, the moment they show us THE WiiU game that will be it's killer app, their hidden ace, their big surprise, what could it be? Retro's new game? Prime4 with crazy awsome HD graphics? Or perhaps something from Monolith Soft? Smash Bros? Or maybe the long awaited return of Star Fox?... And then the disapointment, Reggie says ''We leave you with more Nintendo Land! whoohoo!'' and we see some lame ass fireworks on the screen. Lights start turning on, the audience starts leaving the room and I was just sitting there in front of my computer screen, my jaw on the floor and could'nt believe what happened.
