Forums - Gaming - 2 console gamers. Which one don't/didn't you buy and why?

Ironically, the only one I ended up with any respect for this gen, the PS3, was the only one I didn't buy.

The 360 was simply way cheaper at the beginning of the gen, and with it getting it's own versions of DMC4, FFXIII, Dynasty Warrior, far better digital offerings at first with then exclusives like PacMan CE and Omega Force, and then Capcom exclusive support like Dead Rising and Lost Planet on top of stuff like Raiden IV, I just kept saying screw it, it's looking less and less good compared to the PS3, but they're still getting the stuff that counts for me.

By the time Sony finally had enough PS3 exclusives I REALLY wanted like Valkyria Chronicles, Gundam Extreme VS, Tokyo Jungle, Journey, Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires, etc etc etc it was around the point where I was expecting the PS4 to be announced at any time (originally expected PS4 in 2012) so I just held off.

As far as why I even got a Wii... Well, I was a Nintendo fanboy at the start of the gen.

Around the Network

didnt buy a 360, cant see a reason to own one. it offers Zero to somone like me who dosent care for shooters.

I tend to buy most of them. On the "32 bit era" i got both the playstation and the saturn. I never got a nintendo 64.

On the following gen i got all systems from the dreamcast to the Xbox, including the PS2 and the GC.

This gen i got the 360 for most of it, and last week i got a PS3. I didnt get a Wii because i dislike motion controls.

Next gen i am planning to get a PS4 and Wii U. I am not getting an Xbox one because i was sorely disappointed and abused by microsoft with the 360.

didnt own a 360 because of online fees and lack of exclusives

PS1- first video game console my family had. I was like 5, I don't actually remember much from that period lol

N64- this when I got into games, I think my family got it for Zelda:Ocarina of Time. n64 games were so expensive we rented most of them, the only ones I remember owning were OOT, diddykong racing, Goldeneye and Banjo Kazooie.

Dreamcast: The first console I personally asked for. I played the sonic adventure demo in store and was sold!

ps2: FFX, MGS2, GTA, Pro evo. this was essentially the purpose of our ps2.

Gamecube: kind of mandatory to play the next zelda. Also I associated sonic with nintendo because of Sonic/sega adventure 2 battle and Billy hatcher. The GC was our party system with smash bros melee, mario kart and mario tennis being the games we kept returning too.

Xbox: I honestly don't know why we got this, I had a big family and I think one of my younger brothers wanted this at the time. At first it was an odd box that we kind of regretted but it soon got the love it deserved when we got fable, kotor, kung fu chaos, shemue 1/2, jet set radio. It took us a whlile to realise how amazing halo split-screen multiplayer was.

wii: I was genuinely excited by the control but smash bros brawl and twilight princess made it a must.

360: it was cheaper than the ps3 and after playing Fable and KOTOR, me and my brothers really craved for more western RPGs. Bioshock, Mass Effect and Bioshock made the decision very easy.

ps3: Was really excited by the tech inside the ps3. Its the system which everyone wanted but couldn't afford. The exclusives weren't great till about 2 years in but they all looked great. I expected Blu-ray to make 3rd party titles superior, alongside the Ps3 assumed power advantage. my older brother bought the system as a sort of the media device, we used it as a blu-ray player quite a bit up until 2009, now we just stream everything. It wasn't until 2010 that I really started to appreciate the system for its exclusives and now I'm a ps plus subscriber and really loving the service.

Wii U: What is a Wii U? lol, once 1st party titles hit I'm sure I'll pick one up.

PS4 vs X1. Right now I'm far more interested in the ps4, a few years down the line I'm sure I'll end up owning both. I'll probably buy one and one of my brothers will buy the other.
