Forums - Sony - Sony PR: PS4 No DRM Campaign 'Working Pretty Well'

I am a bias person. I have an eye for PS fans. But I am aware of it. I try to see the ratios of fans I see vs non fans.

Ever consdiered that a good chunk of said complaining and protesting on ALL gaming forums are Xbox fans? An Xbox fan can't hate on MS? Do not confuse all protesters as Sony fans and neutral gamers......Xbox fans are among them too. Xbox.com forums have plenty pleas from 360 diehards......Xbox fans don't have to use the exact same method Sony fans are using.

You act like MS hasn't heard the pleas...... I am shocked by your statement. Shocked. MS has heard the backlash loud and clear. There is no need for a twitter movement. They know. Real world news outlets, gaming journalism, business analysists, and gaming forums everywhere have made it perfectly clear.

You haven't seen it at all......youve seen it non-stop for the last week and a half! Xbox fans are among those upset. For every one trying to stay positive, you have seen dozens voicing concern and you dismiss it as a Sony fan or a neutral gamer.

Thank you for kicking a minority fanbase when they are down, saying  the majority don't care and aren't passionate........you (among others who think this) really want to make Xbox fans look inferior in every regard.

Not at all. I don't want to knock Xbox fans. I want the XB1 to be a good console, and I would support any movement to make that happen. Right now, all I have seen is the complaining on forums and the response from gaming journalism, and I am only going by what I have seen. If you look through the Microsoft Discussion forum there are a lot of positive XB1 threads. And I personally see each of these as a roadblock to fixing the problem.

I'm sorry if I sound like I am attacking the fanbase. It is just that I believe if the gaming community as a whole is as negative as possible about this (to both Microsoft and Sony) then the problem will be fixed by launch. A miserable time for Xbox fans now (rather than pretending things are ok) means a great console later.

Please do not use vgchartz as your sole evidence to form an opinion on this matter. You don't have to look far and please believe me that the next few posters you see criticizing the Xbox One, chances are at least 1 is a Xbox fan or used to be one with very shaky faith in them.

The ones trying to stay positive are by far the minority of the minority, given the grand scale of the gaming internet and disgruntled gamers. Given that, it doesn't help that their shaky optomism is ruthlessly beaten down by others who feel they are wrong. MS heard the cry for change. It is done.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

So by admitting that its doing pretty well, they have confirmed some sort of DRM in their console. Hopefully the campaign will just work and if it does hopefully xbone will drop their stupid DRM and I can be more than a classic console+ Wii U + PC gamer.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

another thread with no real answer on what Sony will do :P

their silence is worrying

And yet, the general stance is that they are angels until proven otherwise.

A nice alternative to MS, being assume the worst until proven otherwise.

guess the disappointment will be way bigger than that of MS if they truly will be using DRM :P

Ok. I don't want to argue. I just want to do what is best for the XB1. I think we should agree to disagree on what that is.

What I find most amusing about this is we have 3 companies. One is doing DRM, One wont admit if they are or not, and one openly has no form of DRM. So who is the savior in all of this? Not the one confirmed to not use DRm but the one that isnt known if its using DRM or not.

We should all support Sony because they wont openly admit their policy but let's pretend the console that isnt doing DRM at all and its already proven doesnt exist...

What that really tells me is be ready for a complete aboutface from Sony fans if and when DRM is brought up. It will then be a good thing for the industry and Nintendo is holding gaming back by not agreeing to it.

I think Nintendo is being ignored 'cause their system is already out. And it's not next-gen hardware wise (I find this to be moot ponit btw)

The bigger question here is what will the outcome be for these 2 divisions.

Still, I should commend this act from these people for bring it up front! Nice work, guys. ;) I would join myself but I have no Twitter account, nor do I want to... :/

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

I keep protesting that I can't resell my dozens of Steam games and other PC games, my PSN games, my Direct2Download games, my XBLA games, my WiiWare games, my Android, my iOS, etc. etc. along with every other protected, digital-only, license-only game that I have purchased, but I can't get enough people to support my hashtags.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Really good and wonderful that Sony isn't ignoring us gamers :) (Gaf deserved our thanks as well)

By the way, why aren't Microsoft fans protesting as well i wonder!?

Sony isn't doing anything, just mid level employees saying "we hear you". That means nothing and yet ppl like you eat it up.

A good chunk of the protesting is from Xbox fans.......on every gaming news site on the internet.......for the past week and counting.....wtf you must have been joking with that.

As much as I would like to believe its all Sony fans who wouldnt buy Xbox 1 anyways, its Xbox fans who just want better.

Agreed.  I'm a fan of Xbox 360 (as well as the others), and believe me, I don't think this DRM stuff is a good thing.

Next thing you know they are going to start attaching your blurays to your player.

If this site is anything to go by, I'd say the exact opposite. I keep seeing " don't worry, everything will be great.", "I don't buy second hand games anyway." comments from Xbox crowd. Instead of trying to change MS's mind they pray and hope that Sony is doing the same thing. One user even said that people who are against this idea are Sony fanboys and the internet is full of Sony fanboys. Go figure.

I want to make a comment on the bold, regardless of who is saying it.  Even if you don't buy used games or sell your games, this DOES effect you whether you like it or not.  This is like saying I don't drive a car, so I don't care what the price of gas is...  Believe it or not, the world turns without your sorry asses, you're just along for the ride!

What happens when your favorite franchise doesn't sell as well because people have to make cuts as to what they can afford?  What happens when that studio closes?

Notice the BIG studios are supporting DRM.  What about the rest?  That all might come across as a little dramatic, but widespread DRM would indeed change the dynamics of the industry and ecosystem.  Plain and simple.
