But I was told by some x1 apologists that opinions on gaming sites and social media were of such a minority they couldn't effect mass market sales.

Load of crap obviously social media is massive and companies do not ignore it.

I also know Sony aren't daft even if there was no system wide DRM in the first place they'd still let this viral campaign run riot as they can make out they listen and care.

A lot of sales sales and market share can be had by winning the hearts and minds on social media.

It gained mass medias, so it's going to be huge ^^ (translation on other sites tomorrow means another wave =D)

As long as I can borrow a game from a friend wihtout having to pay for it, I'm happy.

Best DRM is to make the game good and have some multiplayer features that make you want to buy it to play with your friends

Just do what you gotta do ps4 and shoot xbox outta the water! We dont want DRM!

I've done my part already, don't wanna spam them :p. Glad to hear them respond.

Sony has given rather clear indications that they will be allowing DRM.

Which would imply that deals with EA and other developers have been done. I don't think Neogaf could affect this. In the end, it's about money and not forums.

I agree and hopefully there looking at this and thinking we could clean up market share and sales wise if we drop DRM, lets do it for the money!

What I find most amusing about this is we have 3 companies. One is doing DRM, One wont admit if they are or not, and one openly has no form of DRM. So who is the savior in all of this? Not the one confirmed to not use DRm but the one that isnt known if its using DRM or not.

We should all support Sony because they wont openly admit their policy but let's pretend the console that isnt doing DRM at all and its already proven doesnt exist...

What that really tells me is be ready for a complete aboutface from Sony fans if and when DRM is brought up. It will then be a good thing for the industry and Nintendo is holding gaming back by not agreeing to it.

A good chunk of the protesting is from Xbox fans.......on every gaming news site on the internet.......for the past week and counting.....wtf you must have been joking with that.

If this site is anything to go by, I'd say the exact opposite. I keep seeing " don't worry, everything will be great.", "I don't buy second hand games anyway." comments from Xbox crowd. Instead of trying to change MS's mind they pray and hope that Sony is doing the same thing. One user even said that people who are against this idea are Sony fanboys and the internet is full of Sony fanboys. Go figure.

Wait for E3, then Sony will have to let their plans known. I doubt they will be non-DRM. Even if they wanted to do, they probably can't because of their dependence on 3rd party.
