I want Sony to hear the gamers petition (I don't plan to get a PS4 anytime soon but this type of decision affect the whole industry), however like I mentioned before Sony has in hand numbers that speak much louder than tweets: games sales, PSN revenue, amount of console piracy, etc. Those numbers are much more important than a thousand of tweets.
There's also the issue on how to know how many of those tweets are legit, for example, people who made multiple twitter accounts to post the same message, people that are complaining but in reality are going to get the console anyway, people who are just twitting for fun and aren't planning to get the PS4, etc.
Sony (like any other company) looks for the money, if they see the benefit in DRM, they are going to implement it, simple as that, the amount of tweets needs to be disgustingly huge for the big guys to actually consider not going with this strategy.
And I'll ask again, if Sony does indeed has plans to use DRM on the PS4, isn't it too late to back down at this point without consequences? I mean there's probably already contracts with some 3rd party companies, plus building the software and hardware that allows this DRM specifications. They could obviously ditch out the DRM, but I wonder if that's going to cost them a lot of money, maybe a sue from a 3rd party company (*cough* EA *cough*), or delaying the console's launch to 2014.
Keep in mind all I said are speculations, and are just my personal theories, in the end I don't want Sony to use DRM, but I won't get my hopes up.
