"'Shadow Hearts is retired, and the developer shut down, indeed, with many team members taking refuge at Mistwalker. The talent present there is immense.'"

I know this one is pretty obvious, but it does sadden me. But then, considering the quality (or lack thereof) of the third Shadow Hearts game, maybe it's best that the series is retired...

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

As a Ps3 owner I'm kinda worried about these microsoft exclusives. God help us all if Resident Evil becomes a 360 exclusive.

I don't get it. Why does MS keep funding JRPGs if they keep flopping horribly, and aren't selling 360s in Japan? I say just give up, and work on keeping Sony out of NA, and more importantly, Europe.

Look at Eternal Sonata. They completely funded development, yet the game has sold only 200k WW so far, and barely moved consoles in Japan. It was also announced that it will be ported to the ps3. Why fund ES2 for the same exact thing to happen? It's a waste of money.

Of course, it's not like these rumors have any legs to stand on.

could also think it's BS because these two sources have done absolutely nothing to prove themselves, and you could be reporting these rumors because of all the nice things that were said for the Wii.

I guess what I'm trying to say that it is easily possible that he thinks the rumors are BS because of his owning a PS3, but it's also possible that he doesn't believe them because there's no reason to.

"Proud 360, ps2, and ps3 owner."

No need to explain. This is self-explanitory why you think this is BS (hint: See the Wii's rumors and compare.)

I dont see your point. Asside from Kh3 i dont care what goes on with the wii. I think all of these rumors about it going to wii are unfounded speculation considering wii third party sales in japan (see NMH) eaten up by biased posters such as yourself. You take these rumors as gospel truth and until SE says anything i will remain skeptical.

BTW if you read dabaus513's rumor, it was not directed at you personally, i satritizng these random blogs no ones ever heard of with these "ground breaking revelations."

Here's my theory...

I think MS has got it clear in their heads that Japanese games WILL NOT sell well on their console. There will be no exclusive Japanese game on the 360 unless MS funds it. That's what MS are doing. But WHY are they doing if they see Japanese games won't sell? Well, don't you think that getting many Japanese games on the 360 could set up a path for the third Xbox? I mean, if the Japanese see MS bringing some popular games on their console, don't you think for the next Xbox there could be more Japanese games on it and not shunned by it like they've done with the 360 because it has many Western (mostly shooters) games?

The whole plan is to set things up for the future. They've shunned Japan with the Xbox, and tryin to gain ground from Sony, and to a larger extent, Nintendo (the Wii, really. I'll get into why not the DS in a second...) for their next system to get more Japnese games on it and for more sales.

Make sense?

The reason I said not the DS is because they're laready putting a Blue Dragon and Viva Pinata on it. Why would they do that? Well, the DS is an EXTREMELY popular gaming device in Japan and isn't using it as a tool a good idea? By getting more people fmailar with the games in Japan (and other areas, but mostly Japan) they can set up a user base for Japan. It's all about gaining ground, and the future. You know how MS is with Monopolies. They want to expand as far as they can...in their own ways.

Yes, but is it worth it?  They've spent tons to get exclusive JRPGs on the 360, and, if these rumors are true, will be spending tons more, all the while ignoring Europe, a much larger territory.  Is it worth it?  It may set them up for a somewhat successful foray into Japan next generation, but they'll be wasting a lot of effort that could be put into fending off Sony in the territory that they still have a chance in.  How manys games like Gears, Oblivion, or Dead Rising could be funded instead of ES?

However, their DS strategy is excellent, because, as you said, it gives their franchises notoriety in Japan.  Not to mention it is PROFITABLE!

@ making music, MS is desperate to get a foothold in japan because its an important market but also it has so many developers that make games. Its all about developers.

True, but while they can have a slew of Europe-centric games (you know, shooters, Fable, etc.) that don't appeal to Japan, they can have a slew of Japan-centric games that appeal to both, and more importantly Japan. Sony has a bigger part of the pie in EU, but at least MS has a bigger part there instead of Sony Vs. MS in Japan where Sony is beating them out a lot (key word coming up) more. Move to Japan first, THEN go to other areas where you're not losing as much.

Yes, but why move to Japan if your actions would be much more effective in other territories?

By wasting resources in Japan, they will be allowing Sony to make back considerable ground in Europe.  It is already happen.  Any gains in Japan will be offset heavily by losses in Europe.
