Forums - Nintendo - The man behind Okami, Viewtiful Joe wants to work on Wii, DS

shock of shockers, developers want a winner to back. It's funny that they continue to ignore the wii though. In due time I suppose.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

So the wii has a huge market but no real games??? Yeah that makes sense. Games sale consoles people, if the Wii had not real games it would not be selling.

Plus, if you think it has no real games, well then there is a huge potential for you isn't there? Build us a real game.

Good to see more developers wanting to work on Wii and and more importantly (for me) DS. Okami DS would be a wonderful thing.

You are mistaking his point.  He's saying that the Wii has yet to be tested with a big Japanese game, which is true.  There hasn't been a big RPG or a big 3rd party Wii Japanese mainstream game.  Don't take everything so personally.

So, since FF or DQ, etc hasn't been released yet, then the Wii hasn't really been test in Japan. That still makes no sense when it outselling everything 2:1 in Japan. Obviously there are games the Japanese want.

I still think the logic is stupid. Either way if a developer thinks that the Wii is lacking in a certain genre, well then build it. Take advantage of that hole.

Whether you agree with the logic or not, that's his line of thought.  He's not saying the Wii has no games, just that it's untested on Japanese-centric games.

So basically they're still in the "well the Wii looks nice and everything, but we're not sure if the user base is buying "real" games" phase. That's pretty understandable for someone who doesn't have access to accurate sales data like us.

It also seems like the interview was done quite some time ago, seeing how SEEDS turned into Platinum last October, so he might've come to his senses by now. =P
