Beyond those 2 weeks, we have no data. And in corporate terms, that means there is nothing noteworthy to mention. It dropped off hard basically.

It is still the best selling PSN game every month in US and EU... it only lost one time the first place to Guacameele!

And the game was released in retail too... I will check how much it sold in retail by VGC.

How can that be "dropped off hard"?

Edit - lol VGC didn't tracks the retail version of Journey... the retail Journey Collector Edition.

If it broke a million, we would have heard of it. Thats all im saying

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Guess where they're going with their games next? Multi-plat. Nice way to say Xbox Live for them.

They didn't get much profit to invest in another Journey. They recouped the money invested in Journey but not enough to risk another round.

While Minecraft is selling on XBL more than most Sony and MS flagship titles but GT5.

Fixed.

I agree that indie games do seem to sell better on Live, but that comparison is awful.

Retro City Rampage sold more on Vita than either Xbox or PS3. It also generated more revenue than the PC ver. Go figure. The trend is also that indie games are selling better on Vita than PS3 in general (note we only get comparisons for these systems for the most point) so I guess handhelds are where indies should be going? Yes, Vita had fewer game releases, but it also has a much much smaller userbase to offset that.

ThatGameCompany went multiplat because their exclusivity deal with Sony expired. It's only logical to put your games on as many systems as possible if MS or Sony aren't moneyhatting exclusivity.

Barring Mine Craft which is a phenomenon to itself, do indie releases sell better on XBLA? The sales for titles like Fez don't seem to be any higher than PSN exclusive indie games. I've not seen any stats so couldn't tell you. But surely it's just blatently obvious that you want the biggest audience possible for your game and hence multi platform where possible. So no, they didn't say we didn't sell enough on PSN so we're coming to XBLA where people will buy our games. They said they were going multi platform to maximise their audience, because they're no longer being subsidised to just make their games for a single system.

An insanely ill-founded comparison. Wasn't it announced a little whilst ago that Minecraft had just passed 6m on Xbox 360? Uncharted 2 & God of War 3 have too, not just GT5.

How much is Minecraft selling for on Xbox Live? 1600 M$ points, equivalent to £12.80 or $18.99. 1How much are Sony's flagship titles retailing for? $60 regular editions and around $100 for collector's editions. Even after years on sale most of Sony's flagship games are selling for more than Minecraft. Do you think Minecraft on Xbox 360 alone has made as much money as GoW3 or UC2? No way. 2Really, a lot of Sony's flagship titles have made more money, GT5, GoW3, UC2, UC3, LBP and maybe others. It's silly to compare them and to try and make them look insignificant when the only flagship series that has sold significantly better is Halo.

And Minecraft is Minecraft, it sold AMAZINGLY on PC (over 10 million) and sold amazingly on Xbox 360, if it were on PS3 it would sell just as amazingly as it has done on 360. 3If you have figures for about 5 or more successful multiplatform indie games that have sold significantly more on Xbox Live than PSN then prove it, comparing the biggest indie game ever to something like Journey then claiming indie games don't sell very well on PSN but they do on Xbox Live is just silly.

1- At the time when Minecraft came out last year it was the same price as UC3 on Amazon: $20 not $60 nor $100 collectors edition. Still a fatigued titled, watered down from PC version but still performed outstandingly. And it was released 6 months before Minecraft.

2- The only Sony published titles to crack 6 millions in PS3 era were UC2 and GT5. Whereas Microsoft have 7. Who's trying to belittle the other now?

3- Spare yourself from rubbish comments, no offense. The biggest indie titles this gen were released on Xbox Live Arcade:

1.  Minecraft – 4,997,000 units/$97,388,000

2.  Trials Evolution – 1,002,000 units/$14,298,000

3.  The Walking Dead – 2,615,000 units/$10,277,000

4.  Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – 273,000/$3,973,000

5.  Castle Crashers – 252,000 units/$3,778,000

6.  Gotham City Impostors – 258,000 units/$3,698,000

7.  I Am Alive – 245,000 units/$3,609,000

                8. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD – 226,000 units/$3,261,000

                9. Alan Wake’s American Nightmare – 206,000 units/$2,903,000

               10. Trials HD – 203,000/$2,799,000

And again about Journey... " its release as a PlayStation 3-exclusive hurt the game's overall sales. " Journey creator Jenova Chen told Polygon

Now show me the PSN best selling list.

Minecraft sold 6.500.000 http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5376113

Wow I was not aware that Minecraft sold 6.5 Million on the 360, and barely one year after it released. The way it's legs are it could possibly reach 9-10 million.

Anyways it's obvious that there is serious money to be made on the 360 if the indie game is of quality.
