Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's new revenue stream - peripherals

Yeah, I really don't see a point in this thread. ALL companies make money off of their peripherals, not just Nintendo. You make it out to be some grand scheme.

What about headsets for the 360 and PS3, those certainly aren't free. What about HD cables and other audio peripherals? What about a light gun?

All of these peripherals are sold by their respective companies but you are behaving as if Nintendo is making a boat load of money that the other companies are not.

This post is full of fail, sorry =/

Its not what people say that is offensive, it is how we react to it that determines offense or not- REBT theory of Albert Ellis.

Nintendo has efficiently opened a new revenue source for themselves. Granted peripherals (especially controllers) have always been sold separately. But not like whats happening now. Case:

WiiMote - you get one with the wii. including a nunchuck. but then for four player games, you need 3 more wiimotes. and 3 more nunchucks. which are sold separately.

VC games - for VC games, you need the VC controller. And maybe more than one for multiplayer games.

WiiBoard - to play WiiFit, you gotta buy a WiiBoard. simple as that

SSBB - Best played with the GC controller. You dont have any left? feel free to buy a new one. or four for that matter, as you wanna brawl against friends.

TOTAL: One wii needs for full enjoyment: 3 extra WiiMotes, 3 extra Nunchucks, 4 ClassicContollers, 1 WiiBoard and now 4 GC controlles.

All in all 15 peripherals for the price of about 1 PS3.

Enjoy your games.

let's see...to get "full enjoyment" of a ps3 you're going to need.

1 ps3

4 extra controllers (dual shock 3 is of course necessary for full enjoyment)

1 blu ray remote controller

1 set of component or HDMI cables since for some reason it doesn't come with one

1 playstation eye

1 headset

i guess i just really don't get your point?

edit: completely forgot.....

1 psp for remote play

1 memory stick (for those with ps3's that actually have a memory stick slot)

1 lightgun

1 keyboard and mouse

1 arcade pad

geez this list is getting long. xD

So this would make the Wii-complete family pack:

-Wii
-Wii remote x4
-Nunchuck x4
-Classic Controller x4
-Balance Board x4
-Zapper x4
-Guitar peripheral x2
-WaveBird x4
-2GB SD card
-Component AV cable
-Nintendo WFC USB connector
-Wireless sensor bar
-Wii cooling fan
-Wii Remote charger x4
-WaveBird charger x4
-USB Keyboard (for the Opera browser)
-Wii Wheel x4
-2000 Wii Points
-DDR Dance Pad x2

Games you would need to fully enjoy this package, or that would be included with hardware:
-Wii Sports
-Wii Fit
-Link's Crossbow Training
-Guitar Hero 3
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl
-Mario Kart Wii
-Wii Play
-DDR Hottestn Party
-A couple of VC/WiiWare games
-Maybe a party game, either Mario Party 8/Raving Rabbids 2/WarioWare

Games which can be strongly recommended, but are not in the package:
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Metroid Prime 3
-Super Paper Mario
-Zack & Wiki
-Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
-No More Heroes
-RE: UC
-Twilight Princess

Together, this package would cost:

$2051

@ mariozeldametroid - zomg - you're right!!! that is the "full enjoyment" package and soo expensive. i guess i should just buy a ps3 and no games or accessories right away cause it's soo much cheaper.

I only have 2 controllers and 1 GC controller that I bought used for 15 eur, and I'm enjoying the Wii just fine.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

This thread is a joke, right? Nobody could possibly flame console maker for supporting the use of a wide variety of control methods and devices, especially since you only need one or two or them.

Don't forget a USB PS2 memory card adaptor. Also a DS for Wii since you can download DS demos from the wii.

Also a full set of Eye of Judgement cards. They don't all come with the game and PS Eye you know. (You don't even wanna know what that's going to cost you. If you want Phantoms... look out. (Hint: Probably more then what you paid for the PS3 in the first place.)

360 seems pretty reasonable though.  I mean what do they have?  Were they the ones with the crazy armor core periphriel or whatever it was that was just like commanding a Mecha?

So when are Nintendo launching the new wavebirds for Wii?

I have 2 Wiimotes, 2 Nunchuks, 4 Classics, 4 Gamecubes. Missing Wii Fit board. But will really love to have WiiWheels and Johnny Lee's IR spectacles.

I think in the future they should release an Wiimote attachment for mic.

How can you have more classics than wiimotes????  They plug into the wiimotes....
