Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One has to always be Kinected

what if you have a sore throat or lost your voice? does that mean you cant turn the system on? its gotta have a normal power on button?

sure it will but you could probably not use the stuff which is made only because they have kinect and would never have without it.

seeing as the new Xbox is going to have added TV functionality i think this was a negligent move, what if people dont want a long camera on or near their TV's

Then they can buy a Wii U or PS4.

We've known this for a while now. Thank You Vgleaks.

This is yet another negative feature of the Xbox. People won't like getting stuff forced on them.

How is it a negative feature thats forced on them?

I mean, I could understand if the Kinect didnt come as a pack in, but it does.

Well if voice commands and gestures are required to use the sytem, its a negative.

Some people just want to use a controller.

It does set it apart from other consoles though. That's either good or bad.

Im pretty sure you can either go up to the console and touch the power button or just say Xbox on... I dont think thats a very big negative.

Then why is Kinect required to be always plugged in? If you could use the console without Kinect then why not sell a model without it?

That doesnt mean that kinect is required to actually TURN IT ON..

I never said or thought it was. It's other stuff that might require it. Here's the funny thing,

If Kinect 2 is not required, why not let people buy the Xbox One withoug the Kinect? Why require the Kinect to be plugged in for the thing to even function?

To be honest if Microsoft faked the crowd applause and is charging a fee to play used games i wouldnt even be surprised if the whole fluidity of the kinect to switch from TV to game was staged

because they want kinect to be a full part of xbox one. what's so hard to understand there? if they sell it seperate it will be the same as with move, kinect, ps eye or whatever, it won't get the support of developers they want to get (if games, apps or whatever). if develpers know that everyone has kinect, they will look different at it as if only every third or even less have it.

why has every ps4 controller a touchpad and why has avery wii u a gamepad? because soyn and nintendo want that it is part of every console. i'm sure wii u would be cheaper without gamepad and only a standard controller. those who want a gamepad could buy it seperate!

This is my second reason to not buy an Xbox One, the other is a second hand fee on games. What if you want to game in your bedroom, kinect isn't suitable for such a small room.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Exactly. I understand it perfectly, but what if I'm a 500 pound mute gamer who doesn't feel like getting up in front of the room to do gestures and stuff? What if I want to use only the controller to control everything? Can I do that?

But what about sixaxis?

well, let's say "chance is higher that it will be used more". it's not 100% certain.

buy another console? not that i believe that you would buy an xbox one with or without kinect...

like i said in another post, the "normal" stuff will probably work with controller like navigating in the menu or starting the console. and the stuff which will only work with kinect or smartglass (skype, the nba draft stuff or using the browser when you watch a movie) is something you would maybe not have without kinect and smartglass which means you complain about the need to use kinect for something you wouldn't have without kinect.
