Forums - Gaming - Will PS360 get price cut this year?

I really hope so,because i'm planning to buy a new ps3 super slim.

I think they will both cut the price

Certainly the PS3 won't have any backwards compatibility, so that won't be taking away any sales. I think the key thing to consider is that the people buying consoles now (and waiting for a price cut) won't be considering buying a console for $400+

Maybe I'll get myself a spare

They might but it's hard to say. When you see how cheap PS2 was when the Xbox 360 first came out, you can say for sure price cuts are overdue by far

Good point, the only reason then is not wanting to hurt there profits with consoles coming out that sell at a loss. Microsoft probably wont mind since Live makes so much money and they can afford to take a hit. Sony thought might not want to but have to as a reaction to 360 price drop, also PS4 probably wont sell at nearly a big a loss as PS3 at launch so maybe they can afford a cut.

Hey! Sony actually made a profit recently!

Anyway, given the length that the consoles have been at this price point, they definitely have some sort of headroom for a cut which maintains their profitability

Ur right they have profited recently but there still not in the best situation financially.

I do agree though, they will cut price this year

Not sure if I believe these $99 rumors. I mean Wii is still $130 isn't it and that's last gen tech.

Anyway I believe all their current packages get $50 cuts basically and it will either happen at E3 or in September before their next gen brothers arrive. If next gen consoles are $400 that'll make it about twice as much which is a good margin to have I think. Also PS3 finally getting under $200 will be big. Now the only question is if they can get that 12gb model over to the states for $170 or something.
