Sony declare that 4.90 mil PS3s sold in the final Quarter of 2007 in there finacial report.

How does this compare to VGChartz?

"In the game segment, PS3 platform expanded on a Worldwide basis with PS3 hardware sales of 4.90 million units"

Shipped to retail as every company. For comparison, MS shipped 4.3 million. VGChartz is pretty accurate.

According to VGC, a little under 4 million PS3s were sold to consumers in that time period.

That puts them within reach if their 11 million target. Outselling the 360 is some feat. Good for PS3 owners and playstation fans.

That puts them at 10.49 million shipped LTD as of Dec 31. VGChartz has sell-through of 9.17 million as of Jan 5th, so around 1.5 million on retailer shelves.

They've revised down their fiscal year forecast to 9.5 million, so expecting to ship 2.58 million in Q4 (calendar Q1).

So they have shipped 10.49mil units up until the end of 2007

 

and 6.92mil this financial year. OUCH! they need 4 mil units in the slowest quarter of the year.

Thats huge news. I knew they would have to drop it, a 1.5M drop at the last quarter is a tad embarrassing though. More than made up for it with the profit in the gaming devision however.
