Even as a PS3 person, I think this gen has been a loss for Sony regarding of overtaking xbox360 in global sales. I think it's more important to sell more here in the US rather than the world, and PS3 sales got trounced by xbox sales in the US. Also, PS3 is much behind the Wii globally.
All points toward cutting losses and getting ready for the next gen which Sony is. PS4 has to be the #1 console in the US to considering it a success.
