Forums - Gaming - Namco on Dark Souls 2 marketing: "treating it as a massive AAA title, would be nice to attract Skyrim players"

Exactly..They know what they are doing which is why they strongly dislike the idea of adding easy mode or the easier options that you have listed. Read Dev and creator interviews and comments from the past 6 years.... then you'll know what I'm talking about...well actually you prob still won't know until u get persistent. Doing what they are talking about with accessibly will help people get into the game and experience the true DS ..for both experience and new players. rather than mundane things such as souls, item drop or re-killing mobs..all which already have easy way out.....

Certain areas in the game such as lost izalith pretty much encourage u to not re-do the area.

and Mtu, yep...John pretty much completely ignored what you said about bonfires/shortcuts being placed basically right in front of the boss most of the times...If not only a couple enemies or a 30 second or 1 min  run away...  But he doesn't really know this stuff since he only got to the first boss lol.

If we have no faith in fromsoft then fromsoft sure as hell has no faith in itself based on almost everything they said since 94 with Kings field...No matter who the director or creator...no matter how good or bad the game sells... They know the game more than anyone...Much more than someone who hasn't beat the first boss. They know that they their passion in making the game isn't to cater to the non-Persistant RPG player with a hardcore RPG based on core elements such as having to re-kill for punishment(and Knowledge)and the overall difficulty lol...and likely never will.

Not necessarily. The difficulty would still be there so the "prepare to die" marketing scheme would still work just fine.

@mtu: The points you bring up are not the problems. Nothing would get changed for you. The main thing that I really wanted changed is just a mode where you don't have to go over the same area time and time again. You're acting like an easy mode would drastically change everything but in truth, it would not. First off, you act like From Software is a company that couldn't handle doing that. Why do you have such a small amount of faith in an a company that obviously has the ability to make such changes without changing anything you like about the game. Your gameplay would be just the same so why do you care?

I just want you guys to understand that From Software obviously knows what their doing and they wouldn't change your gaming experience. There isn't any logical reason to get fussy over the notion of a well implemented, easier difficulty.

lol, i was just joking around.  :P

Prepare to die...But not suffer any consequence would be a great title for the Light Souls mobile version that the creators of fruit ninja plan to make....XD Now DS will sell billions!

Guys for realz adding a lower difficulty wouldn't even make sense. Like would they split the online then for co-op/invasions? Would you have less items being dropped and less souls being given from the easier difficulty? It seriously cannot be done without huge repercussions!

An easier mode could disable invasions.  Problem solved.

Thus lessening the online community as invasions is part of what makes the Souls series what they are.

What? So we should cater to a few whiners that don't care for invasions?

I don't know how old you guys are in general, but if you recall awhile back in Ultima Online that game got ruined when they removed open world PvP, subscriptions went WAY down. Getting rid of griefing is not a good idea, especially in Dark Souls.

It's just that simple.

Aside from the friendly debate going on here's a little something to ease the tension.

All I can say is this, if Demon's Souls had an easier difficulty I would have immediately played that difficulty and that would have ruined my experience. So I'm grateful that it didn't.

Blkfish you sure love pigeons. What if they put a pigeon boss in DS2. Would you be conflicted to slay it? :P

Want invasions disabled?Play offline mode..or the most commonly used approach...don't turn human when you don't want to be invaded.Problem Already solvable.

Oh yeah and funny that you mention Ultima, Monster considering that one of the new directors working on DS2 worked on the legendary Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss in 92 XD

What? So I should cater to a bunch of twinks looking for easy points while trying to enjoy the game?
Or discard all the online functionality and only play offline? Sorry but I'll keep disconnecting when the invasion msg appears, I'm not playing the game for your enjoyment.
There is a reason mmorpgs have separate co-op and pvp servers, or voluntary based pvp.
