Considering Sony wanted it to be mass market, it clearly didn't work as expected thus far.



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles. 

 

It needs to be mass market. A lot of mass market consoles may have had a load of shovelware on them but they also got the best possible in their time, just look at the PS2 or DS

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

The thing is, when a product is mass-market you tend to get a lot of core titles because they want to be sold on the machines with large markets. With failures you don't get much of anything, especially where it's a Sony system that depends heavily on third parties for content. Really, it's mass market or nothing.
