With PDZ I expect it to be over 200k, heck I see 300k as possible, but the 3DS is 250k behind itself YoY, and 3DS sold 200-420k weekly during the last 4 weeks of 2012. Basically 3DS needs to sell 1,260k in 4 weeks to top itself from 2012 (sold 1,006k according to VGC).

It's already sold a lot f its potential in its first 2 years. 15m consoles in Japan is heading close to historical saturation figures (most leading consoles barely passed 20m sold in Japan, in the case of the GB, it was due to the revival 10 years+ after its release). I think it will end at around 25m+ in Japan and that number is superb but it is approaching its peak already no question about that. We'll see how the holidays rolls I suppose.

Yea, but if 3DS is peaking now, I don't see it selling anywhere near DS numbers lifetime. 100 million WW+ sure, but I just got my system, I don't want it to be outdated anytime soon.

You're probably right about 3DS peaking, I just want 2013 to be the peak in Japan. DS peaked in 2006 (2 years after launch), and coincidently DS had 14 million units on shelves in Japan after 2 years (3DS is at the same level). However DS sold 8+ million units that year, 3DS is only looking to get 5 million in it's 3rd year.

Anyway, rants aside, 3DS is doing well. Not DS well, but I do hope 2013 > 2012 in Japan.

Yeah, it can't be evergreen forever. Nintendo expects 3DS to sell 5M this year in Japan (down 500K from last year, when 3DS XL released), console will beat that plan and it still be great cuz no other consoles in history, except DS and 3DS, sold 5M in Japan in 1 year.

In 2014 we can expect a price cut + 2DS release in Japan. In the end the system can reach 25M in Japan.

p.s. looks like PDZ doing amazing. Sold Out in many places, can't wait for next charts!

If DS YoY sales are any indication, DS only fell 14% with its 3rd full year on the market. If 3DS matches this, it will put 3DS very close to 20 million in Japan (which is about 13% the countries population). After that, I think it will likely trickle to 25 million.

Oh well, I don't regret holding out on buying a 3DS for so long, until Fire Emblem and Pokemon I didn't have much of a need to upgrade, and I like my solid black model.

Unfortunately, this has been my problem with the whole "goooo"-ing.  I feel like this thread, moreso than ever (and I've only been following it for just over a year, but still) has devolved into: you support whatever releases on your platform.  Hell, I'm guilty of it too (but I find it more difficult to get enthusiastic for things like Madoka and God Eater than I do stuff like from the otaku devs which I genuinely want to do well).

The last few replies have offered some interesting insight into why you want to do this particular game to do well though, so kudos for that.  Was an interesting read.
