USA only: Dynasty Warriors 2 - 200k (Source) So add in the rest of NA and they all sold over 250k except maybe DW2 but that was a long time ago. I really don't think DQH can sell any less than that. We need the guy with the Zhuge Liang avatar in here! He's the biggest Warriors fan and I'd like his hindsight! |
Hi,
Sorry was busy recently, hence why I haven't been here.
Just to also add, DW6 is over 275k at this point with DW7 having exceeded DW6 sales. DW2 sales are low because it was the first musou game and a launch game on PS2. DW4 still remains the best selling musou game from Koei with more than 2.1 million units sold worldwide.
Musou sales in the USA are actually ok most of the time, higher than EU but obviously less than Japan (exception being Hyrule Warriors which is over 400k).
For the guy asking about OPPW we know that 860k was in Japan and worldwide sales are over 1200k but could actually be much higher by now. Also it was digital download so very hard to get any accurate number at all.
I'm expecting DQH to follow the trend of many new Musou IP/crossover which is high opening sales then a 1.4x to 15x multiplier for lifetime sales in Japan. So for example if first week sales will be ~500k then I'd expect lifetime sales in Japan to be ~750k at a maximum which would make it the best selling new musou IP after OPPW (860k) but ahead of Gundam Musou (700k), Musou Orochi (670k excluding PSP) and FOTNS (650k).
Western sales will be the hardest to predict and track but assuming DQH does exceed 700k combined in Japan then I can say with some confidence at least that total worldwide sales will easily exceed 1 million and will be on track to match or exceed Hyrule Warriors sales worldwide.
I do think the fact Dragon Quest Heroes is a new IP/crossover, a new title for PS4 which will receive marketing and a musou game will allow western sales to actually be fairly good. But we'll have to wait and see.
