Hence the "All seriousness" + in the post. To me, exclusives always matter. However, more recently, I've only seen a select few claiming they don't, and they just happen to be pro-Xbox folks. Thus, an easy time to pick at it. ;)

Oh I agree. To me on a gamer level I love exclusives. Nothing brings the excitement a big exclusive does.

In terms of hardware sales though exclusives do matter less the longer the generation goes.

Not surprising Microsoft gets another fps. Im interested in seeing what the game is, however it won't really change my mind on Xbox. Unless Microsoft gets more rpgs, then Playstation will always be my choice.

"We've heard from other sources that Microsoft is not where they want to be at this point in the pre-launch development of Durango. A reliable source—one who was not part of our reporting about the Respawn game—tells us that Microsoft is as much as six months behind in producing content for the new console, despite an expected late-2013 launch. Another tells us that Microsoft recently cancelled several internal next-gen projects because they were not coming together as hoped.
