I definitely won't be buying the next gen Xbox, but I agree that the amount of negativity is crazy when you consider nothing has been confirmed yet. Maybe it's the amount of negative rumors that's causing it. I wasn't really into gaming forums until this genration, so I don't know what the rumors were like for past and current gen consoles. Has there ever been this many negative rumors surrounding a console before?

The ironic thing though is 90% of the people complaining about always online are people on internet forums.....who are constantly online.  Most of the people complaining have their Xboxs and PS3s hooked up to stable internet nearly all the time.

Now personally I hope the Next Xbox doesnt require an always online connection but who knows maybe the sheer amount of amazing things theyre adding to Xbox Live makes them require a connection. Thats my point is we dont know anything yet.  For all we know always online could be an incredible experience.  If you have a smartphone its always connected.  People dont complain about their phones.

The problem is that not so long ago we saw articles how PS4 and nextbox will not play used games;... Now we know it was not true for PS4 people still believe it will be the case for nextbox...the question is do they really believe it or they want to believe it so they can troll about it?

Its just that many gamers such as myself have a really bad taste left in their mouths from the 360.

I'm personally not holding my breath over the 720 and am highly skeptical of it given all the rumours and even more so MS's treatment of the fanbase. But if the 720 does turn out to be something awe inspiring, which I highly doubt, I'll gladly take everything back and eat a huge slice of that humble pie.

It is completely deserved. These rumors that are going around are horrible and very anti-consumer.
Hopefully Microsoft doesn't go through with these rumored plans. Hopefully they focus on the hardcore gamers which will be dishing out $500 for this thing this holiday.

Quite honest, the amount of negativity surrounding the Nextbox right now is nothing compared to the negativity Nintendo fans had to endure during the GCN era, especially the last 2-3 years of the Wii era (though on the forums I attended during the Wii era Nintendo fans were belittled even when the Wii was at its peak) and the WiiU era so far.

I don't want to downplay how incredibly stupid it is to judge a console based on rumors, but that's just how it is.

Eh, it happens with every console. PS4 will have its turn when New Super Zelda U is announced and a bunch of other Wii U games, when the Wii U price drop happens and when 720 steals the spotlight.
