I watched the entire live stream, not impressed. Do not read if you're in a media black-out for Beyond: Two Souls.
The visuals are good but only the faces look amazing, more so when they're not talking and there's a lot of poor textures, sub-par lighting effects (burning building) and lack of attention to detail (a woman gave birth to a baby which was covered with absolutely no blood). The story (sub plot, whatever) just felt so disjointed thanks to all the jump cuts and black screens and it felt forced. The voice acting is mostly pretty good, didn't even notice the OST which isn't a good thing. As for the gameplay it looks like they've taken away even more control from the player since Heavy Rain, controlling blue glowing lights to interact with environments at predetermined and obvious moments takes away any mental input from the player further soliciting the notion that it's a film first, game second.
I was interested in this game after buying and to a degree enjoying Heavy Rain (at a bargain bin price, spur of the moment buy)... not so much now. I will wait and see how it's received, even then I'll wait for a bargain bin price to lower my losses if I enjoy it as little as I think I will.
The more opinions that vary the better so please don't give me any nonsense for my negative critique, If more people were fairly harsh but fair with their critique we'd have better products. Now that's one game off my 'anticipated list', I can't wait to try The Last of Us in just over a month and you can all be sure I'll also share my honest impressions with that game too.
