From cell phones to tablets to handheld devices, this could be what gaming could end up in about 5 years. I doubt it cell phones is going to replace PC ,but consoles ...maybe.

Let's say un-realistically, the WII U and PS4 failed. If Sony and Nintendo get desperate, they can design the next 3DS or Vita to prefer similar to this. Not sure how the 3DS will work but I heard rumors that the next Vita model will have a built in hdmi port on it. The Ouya could be a success with it's affordable price and library though I'm not sure about that. There's also the gamestick. Already I'm seeing ads of it at my local GameStop, I could go on.

There are two kinds of gamers: those who are and those who aren't. Those who are buy consoles and PC's. Those who aren't play on their phone.

They will hurt the sales of consoles this generation but there will always be a market for console gaming.
