MSony will focus on the same amount of games and other entertainment. Its the way of the future. Go with it.

Nintendomination will occur regardless.

Only wierd thing will be when Apple and Google show their hands later this year and push more directly into console gaming.

I'm not sure what Apple or Google would want in the home console business. They don't have any inhouse game devs and apart from the Wii console hardware doesn't generate profits or very small ones at best.

No, I think Apple and Google will just bet on their tablets taking over the home console space eventually (with miracast/wireless-HDMI and bluetooth gamepads they could serve as home console replacements right now and that will only become easier/better in the future ) and collecting a nice ~3rd of the revenue from games sold in their shops is a much more stable business than developing risky high budget titles themselves.

They don't need first party software (though Google does have that new Ingress game). They have the exclusive other mobile games plus other content already in their ecosystem.

Plus it won't be a $500 game console, but a $100 or $200 tv top box.

Yes, the video game industry has never faced so many challenges and changes in its landscaped. Here are few reasons

1. Economic depression

2. Mobile platform/games (Android, iOS, Windows Store...)

3. Indie game vs AAA

4. Alternative consoles : Ouya, Gamestick, Valvebox, Oculus Rift, Nvidia Shield...

5. Server gaming (OnLive, Gaikaï...)

6. Internet Censorship/Always on DRM vs Piracy

7. Free2play, Microtransaction, Episodes...

(8. bonus from the future : TVs as multimedia center, console and even PCs)

Market in general this gen contracts moderately, from 225 million handhelds to somewhere around 100-130 million

Really interesting prediction you have here. Are you expecting 3DS sales to slow down? When? Are you expecting a slow down in Japan as well?
