Possible reasons for no kill:
This is a game of stock only and we're all town
(Seems super unlikely as the rules in OP specifically spell out that there is mafia and town wins when they are gone, I know the rules are generic and pasted from somewhere but a mafia game without mafia I would expect that kind of stuff to be removed from the rules)

Town got lucky or are better than I can imagine
(Someone got blocked and somehow the kill didn't happen)

Mafia has to either challenge or kill, can't do both
(Still if that is the case, they would be better off just killing someone I would imagine)

Mafia somehow opted not to kill
(Is there any conceivable strategy where this would make sense? In my mind Night 1 kills would be the safest one for scum?)

I am overlooking something? For people who play this game a lot, does it happen frequently that there are no kills on Night 1 and if so, what is typically the explanation?

All town is highly unlikely, because of the rules are you say. And the final rule is not simply copied.(At least from VGC)

Mafia would have little reason to forego their kill, unless they already have some knowledge of the setup.(in terms of roles) If they aren't so worried about being caught by roles, then it's somewhat easier to hide in a larger group.

Probably not, as challenges themselves were quite misterious, I received one, but didn't know who challenged me.

I don't think that this is a 100% town situation, I just suggested that as a joke. This feels like day one, no info at all, anywhere.

I hope that there is no godfather, as it would further complicate things, but maybe if Nacho went with a two mafia players, he could use a GF to balance it.

Because he said "I will say tomorrow why no death is interesting". Either he is some sort of doctor/bodyguard or he has a killing power and used it. Either way, he wouldn't be mafia as the mafia don't want to be revealed
