Umm The DS says Hi with its vast number of brand new ips and overall epic library of games with 150 million+ sold. Oh but thats a handheld you say? Last i checked Handhelds were still consoles so id edit your post as you see fit then.

On topic though...

The facts seem to point to Sony being in the hole big time with the PS3 when you factor in everything and it seems as though most of the "fanboys" in this thread are trying to defend their console by mixing in the 360 with it but this thread was about the PS3 and Sony was it not? Microsoft can take quite a few hits and be fine but as it looked for Sony as a whole the last few years they have been digging their company into a grave. Just look at their stock numbers ooo wow lets not...

Their (Sony's) 10 year plan was a failure.

atleast say it after the 10 years are over

Sonys next console release wasn't supposed to happen until 10 years  after the launch of the PS3 (Not 5 years).. So they cuold recover the losses of the R+D, production, etc.

Nintendo Wii took a shit on PS3 and XBox 360 in terms of profits last gen.

Thats pretty much common knowledge.  Thanks for the insightful input.

Sony lost billions.. MS lost billions..

Sadly seems like both will lose billions again next gen.

But the difference is MS can afford the losses, Sony no longer can. I actually think that both will be profitable early on.

Do you know what Sonys 10  year plan (is) was? Releasing the PS4 now,  was not part of it.

DS is too dependent on JRPGs and visual novels to have an actually decent library.

yes it was, or they wouldnt have started work on the ps4 5 years ago. the life of the ps3 doesnt depends on when the ps4 launches. its really that simple

You have forgotten to take into account the enormous operating loss from the tsunami ravaging their factories and their decline with the Bravia TVs.
