Forums - Gaming - What is bigger- Zelda or Fable

According to sales? Zelda.

According to accolades? Zelda.

According to the hearts and minds of the majority of video game fans? Zelda.

Obviously, I'm a huge Zelda fan -- just look at my signature -- but I also love Fable. Yet it's fairly obvious which franchise is bigger.

The Op's data is already skewed.

He included all the platforms Zelda was on, but only two of the platforms Fable was on, he missed a key platform, aka. The PC.

Also, after all these years, it's pretty much known Zelda is a bigger franchise, that's not to say that Fable is a bad game, it's a good game with great character too.
I say play them both and have fun.

Well that was easy.

Wow that's a great post Joe. That graph really easily answers the question.

Actually Joe and Joe, I think this picture does a better job explaining the situation.

That's a good point Joe but Google is much larger than YouTube.

Sure google is bigger Joe, but it doesn't reflect the hardcore gamer. This is much better.

LoL! Great research :D Zelda bigger confirmed!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

So, there's a bunch of points I'd like to make;

Kinect has sold roughly 20m units, which is roughly the instal base of GC, and looking at the numbers of Journey and WW it becomes clear that Zelda sold better with roughly the same instal base.

You could also say that Kinect is an add-on, and so is motion+, but SS still sold a whole lot better.

But then again, Journey is a spin off, so let's compare it with Link's Crossbow training... Oh...? Zelda still sold more. And yeah, you're right; it was bundled. But so was Fable III, right? Does that mean we should detract numbers from it? Because, from what I can gather, we'd have to detract 1-1.5m units from F3 then, putting it roughly in the same league as SS (which needed an add-on, remember?)

No matter how you look at it though, both franchises is doing fairly well, and that's all that matters. Zelda has A LOT of ups and downs, while Fable is a bit more consistent, it's also been bundled and fills a niche that is lacking on the X360.

first fable was good after that it went downhill very fast

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

According to VGC data Twilight Princess sold 8.36 million copies.

You are wrong on so much levels.
Different audience: Kinect - casual gamers and not interested in Fable franchise, Gamecube - nintendo fans and they want to buy new Zelda.

1) Different add on cost.
2) Different appeal (Zelda - basically the same game, Fable - rail shooter spin off)

2) Link's Crossbow training was bundled not to are console, but peripheral for casual and you cannot choose - with or withiout link game (Xbox 360 case). Selling to the same day btw.

You are mean Zelda doesn't fill the niche of Zelda/adventure game on Nintendo consoles?

Even as a Microsoft fanboy I can admit Zelda is bigger.

i'm confused, weren't you a nintendo fan last week, and a sony fan before that?

Easily Zelda.
