Forums - Sony - Would PlayStation All Stars have been better with God of War type multiplayer?

Would it?

Yes 26 27.08%

Yes but with some changes 17 17.71%

No I like it as is 30 31.25%

Does that game still exist even? 23 23.96%

Total:96

Having played both I can say that neither game is exceptional. All-Stars doesn't fit with the characters included. Kratos fit MK better than he does this game. Smash Bros. has never been as good as people think. It's just for some reason if it's different and made by Nintendo then it's renowned. Nintendo has always had great characters and that's what made their game stand out. The gameplay not to much. All-Stars also has great characters but none of them fit the gameplay.

i'm getting pretty burnt out on threads discussing the game in general... it always only goes one way

people who bought the game, played it and enjoyed it expressing why they favour the game in some respects getting swamped by comments from others who generally had no interest in the game, never played it and wanted to hate it from the very beginning

but no for several reasons i don't think GoW ascensions ( i play both fairly regularly and am about to play some ascension mp ) style of play would have been suitable

one being that god of war ascension's mp is almost entirely melee focused with hardly any ranged options; this would not suit characters from psas like radec who were almost entirely ranged focused

All stars is an amazing and fun game! People are just ignorant and won't even play it. I have a few hardcore PS fans who just won't give it a Fi even though I know they would love it. Great game

Don't be so sure that if people play it they will like it. I have tried so much to like the game, but it is just not fun. I've played it with my group of friends who love Smash Bros. and they all hate it. I have brought it over to other people's houses and had them play it and they didn't like it. I have not yet met anybody who actually enjoys playing the game.

Everytime I read "who love Smash Bros." it's almost always in a sentence with "hate it". If you go in expecting Smash Bros like most Smash fans seem to do, you will not have a good time because it's not Smash bros. It doesn't play the same like so many expected.

It's annoying, really. People shit on the game before playing it claiming it's a Smash rip-off then shit on it after playing because it's not enough like Smash and there for bad.

I play both, btw. Play them both regularly.

So, exactly how, from a gameplay standpoint is All Stars superior to Smash Bros?  And if it isn't superior in any way, then what is its point?  Maybe someone is into platform brawlers, but if not normally a big fan, why would someone own both, or pick All-Stars over Smash Bros. unless they are a fan of Playstation characters, and don't mind having the inferior game?

And this is an editorial that compares the two:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/10053-PlayStation-All-Stars-Vs-Super-Smash-Bros

Any reason why the All Stars way to win is superior to Smash Bros?

What? Read what I said and don't add shit to it, please.

Posts like yours sicken me. I'm not talking shit about which one is superior or why you should buy one over the other. His friends who were brawl fans got to try the shit for free and didn't like it. I gave my two cents on that.

The point of the game is the same point as any other multiplayer game with a versus mode. Beat up and kill the other guys that aren't on your team. If someone isn't a fan brawlers, they shouldn't own either. If they are, they should be happy that more than 1 decent one exists.

I would give my two cents about which game I prefer but after reading your reply to my posts which came out of fucking nowhere I feel like it's gonna be a waste of my time to try to get into that shit. Just know that I play both and enjoy them both regularly. I'm not some weirdo that can't enjoy more than 1 game.

Good for you. Doesn't make the game fun for me or any of my friends. Or anybody else I know. We have given it numerous chances. Whether or not it's too similar to Smash Bros. or not enough like it is moot if in the end it's not fun.

It would be hard to adapt some characters to the MP structure of Ascension, so I don't know about that.

Have you played GOW:A? Do you think that style would have made the game more enjoyable for you?

Also since Santa Monica is now in charge of taking care of All Stars DLC and such, maybe a sequel with more of this style isn't so far fetched. Could GOW:A style be translated to 2D?

Sure, why not. It would at least be more interesting. As for GOW:A in 2d? I'm not even sure how that would work.

Super system. The entire game was designed around it and it made for some very boring gameplay. I want everything I do to matter.
