Gangnam Style was funny because it was stupid and unexpected. This is just stupid. It's also not as catchy and it doesn't have a funny dance that's easy to imitate.

Psy may be a 1 hit wonder.

Not melodic. I liked the total of 20s of Gangnam Style where it was. I can't see the appeal in rap or highly repetitive sounds.

You do realize that Gagnam Style blew up because it was absolutely ridiculous, not because it was good, right? I kept seeing posts on facebook and comments on youtube about the screaming at the girl's ass scene. The one you posted is actually a decent video, with only a bit of weirndness, hence the lack of success.

You also must realize that the song is good in most people's opinion. Not everyone just likes the video.

OT: Haven't watched it. Moderate expectations!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do. I used to listen to it almost every day a few weeks ago and really liked it. But tons of songs are amazing or catchy (even popular) and still don't get even 1/100 of the views that gamnam got.

Sure, but the Right Now video is similar in a lot of ways so I'm surprised at the huuge discrepancy in view count. Like, if GS got so popular and hit that nerve of popular culture just right, I'd have expected Right Now to do a little better than it did, because it's so similar. But tastes and circumstances change and people are unpredictable, so I get it.
