Forums - Nintendo - Pikmin 3, should I buy it when it drops?

Hey there I'm yet to play a Pikmin game as of yet and I tend to like strategy games when I've played on pc in the past, the game looks really interesting and detailed in the pikmin 3 screens I've seen, I want to know how engaging is the gameplay in pikmin games and what are the objectives of the game? I know you fight other creature enemies and think there are puzzles to work out and solve, I've even heard you can even kill your own pikmin lol so should I give the game a go??

I've played Pikmin 2 which convinced me to get Pikmin 3 right at launch. Pikmin 2 looks really cute, sounds cute, but in reality the gameplay is actually quite hardcore/difficult and can be harsh and frustrating. You'll have to collect regular things that are trash considered to people like batteries, cans and toys and convert it to money on Olimars planet to save your company. When you proceed in the game you'll find different species of Pikmin that can help to get stuff you couldn't get before, so there also is backtracking. You should really get Pikmin 2 voor Gamecube or Wii.

Pikmin 3 gives you the ability to control 3 different captains at the same time in a certain level, which allows you to work faster than before and in a more strategic way. I can't wait for Pikmin 3. It looks beautiful and charming too.

I never tried it before either, but i want to try it. It looks like it could be fun. I like to try unique games.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

i bought Pikmin and Pikmin 2 for Wii 6 weeks ago for Pikmin 3 and i really love the gameplay.

Pikmin 2 has more varied gameplay and greater things to do, but Pikmin 1 is where the atmosphere is.

Basically, in Pikmin 1, you've crashed landed on a planet and have to use Pikmin to recover lost pieces of your ship to get home before your time limit is up (30 days, I think). It's very strategic and you have to be able to micromanage multiple tasks to get everything done during the day. Bosses can get very difficult.

Pikmin 2 was good, but it did away with the time limit which took away from the experience. Also, while the a surface levels were fun, the dungeons sucked. However, they're both good game and I'd recommend picking them up if you can find them before playing Pikmin 3.

It's a great experience and this one can be played in local co-op with each person having their own screen. This is a game my girlfriend and me have been looking forward to for ages. You should definitely give it a try. Just watch some review videos first - you have to like the setting ti enjoy it I think.

Did Nintendo say anything about versus play? We know very little about this game given how long it's been in development...

How many hours does it take to complete the game?

Pikmin 1: 9 hours
Pikmin 2: 20 hours

Pikmin 1 takes a maximum of 30 x 15 minutes of actual gameplay (1 day is roughly 15 minutes long and after 30 days it's over). That is, if you don't repeat days to maximise your progress. If you don't you'll probably have to play it twice to get all parts of the ship. You can complete the game in less than 20 days though so it really depends on your skills.

Pikmin 2 takes much longer I'd guess around 20-30 hours or so to complete. You don't have to find every single treasure in that game if I remember correctly. Then there's challenge mode and local 2 player mode which adds some more hours of fun. If you have a girlfriend show her this game

Wow that's a big increase in hours from the first game, how did the first two sell sales wise?
