So Windows 8 sells quicker than every OS before it yet pc sales are down? Work it out. People are just buying tablets and the like instead. Pc's will get a boom when the consoles release. People will realise that pc's are better than tablets, in most regards at least.
As others have mentioned, this isn't really a win 8 or PC dying phenomenon, PC market has never been this stagnant in requirements before. 10 years ago if your PC was 12 months old you would already be finding stuff it couldn't do, nowadays a 5 or 6 year old machine can meet the majority of users demands. I used to upgrade at least once a year, usually more often. in the past 4 years though I have only done so twice and the latest one I could arguably have gone with just a couple of minor part updates. PC's still dominate computing, just that now the demand has been met, the rapid replacement cycle is no longer needed until something more demanding comes along that everybody needs to do. The reports claiming the end/death of the PC era are idiotic and written by people that fail to understand the market.

Where are you getting that from? After the cheap intitial sale, Windows 8 has been lackluster at best.
Tablets are taking most of those sales probably. I hope they don't fully replace PC, nothing beats a PC

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

They look cool and if I owned one I'd use it to play a game for 5min a day but there is no other need for it. Everything you can do on a tablet can be done more easily on a pc. |
You should have stopped talking when you said "if I owned one". The tablet is much better than the pc in The majority of tasks hence the shift. You should only talk from personal experience, if you had a tablet you would be saying it the other way around. Everyone wrote the iPad off at launch and now look at it.
I actually have an iPad, laptop and a PC, use the latter two alot more than the tablets, I find them a dumbed down versions of the actual PC/laptop combination and it doesn't get much use at all unfortunately, feel bad for the people who gave it to me as a present, therefore not selling it on, but it is a useless addition and can't do anything beyond a laptop can, and can imagine notebook is even more convenient and more accessible than a tablet, but for emailing etc it has a small use, but nothing major.
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.
Two problems that I have with Windows 8 is that, for one, the release is extremely unstable. Internet explorer crashes three or even four times a day, and I have like 5 or 6 sites opened at most. The other issue I have is the Start button; I can't find anything.
Having said that, I don't think Windows 8 is responsable for the worst drop in PC sales in history.

Nope, all my friends who own tablets say that they are pretty useless as well.

Those who are talking about how a five year old PC can run just about anything people want to run are closer. PCs have been over serving the needs of most users for a while now. And what happens when a market gets over served...? |
Whoa thats a great point. Seriously i have never thought of that. But the point I brung up was that with the increasing normal tech level of a general person is increasing. My mother doesn't even know the difference between Internet Explorer and Chrome. While a ten year old can tell me the difference. Its just an idea. and i dont know if that explanation helped get it across. I just woke up. Do you get what im saying?
