I think this quote might be taken a little out of context. It seems to relate to the development and advertisement of Knack, not Sony's design philosophy. I'm not saying Sony doesn't publish games from different genres and for different tastes -- it certainly does -- but I think the author is reading too much into it, or projecting too much onto it.

Only in 2013 PS3 is receiving over 20 news JRPG titles... there are over 150 alredy.

Yeah, but none of them is a BIG budget "OMG" game. Even though japanese developers have more power in this generation than the last, they continue do the same thing over and over as they did with the PS1/PS2, and the only thing that changes a little are the graphics. JRPGs this gen are at it's core PS2 games with enhanced graphics.

Overgeneralization. It's like being American or European and saying that all Asian people look the same. If you look at the charts, Jrpgs don't sell all that well. Look at the success of Pokemon, Mario, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing etc in Japan.
