Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto Plans on Making Games Until He Dies

Shigeru Miyamoto recently told Rolling Stone in an interview that he enjoys working at Nintendo so much that he can only see himself making games for the rest of his life.

Often asked about retirement plans, Miyamoto goes on to to say ”I’m at an age where as I look around at people who work in different companies and they’re all reaching an age where they’re thinking about retirement, I guess people might expect me to be thinking of retiring.”

“But at the same time, I look at the work that I’m doing, and the fun that I’m having – this is something that I can still continue to do for a long time. You know, possibly until I die.”

Even with plans to continue making games until he dies, he’s still rational about his age and is working hard to make sure that Nintendo can continue to have a successful future with him gone.

Who will be the successor to this man?

I can't name anyone. As far as I'm concerned he IS Nintendo.

Never thought he was going to stop.

Just was going to step down from leadership positions, and let new developers take lead.

I'm guessing they will groom and present few individuals later on along with him, when they feel the time is right

He's Japanese so he'll probably live to be 150 or so and just get more awesome as he ages.

Poorly. XP

I enjoy the little glimpses into the way he does things. The games are coming. I don't play all that many games; I think I'm a lot more patient when it comes to that than a lot of others around here. It also helps that I don't have a Wii U yet, so I'm not begging for games to justify my purchase.
