UC3 is under tracked as well according to Sony PR.

Everything is undertracked these days.

except Vita and WiiU

I thought wii u was undertracked a little in Europe.  Thought I saw someone post that somewhere.  Maybe I misunderstood whet they meant.

I think they are joking.  Even GT5 can be spculated as not being undertracked.  We have shopped numbers for GT5 at 9 million but that doesnt mean 9 million people has bought the game.

As Far as Uncharted goes and preorders I dont know if anybody can prove that the numbers are wrong without an officiol statement.  Vgchartz never saud they are 100% accurate anyways.  They are an estimate so they will be relatively close but 100% accuracy is most likely impossible.

Well, the guy sounded serious.  I can usually detect sarcasm or a joke, but I didn't feel it in the post.

Well, yeah the site only does estimations, but when there is some factual information out there that a game or console is undertracked then it should be adjusted to be a closer estimation.  Like with ps360 which are both undertracked by a million with ps3 being undertracked more than that and the site has yet to change it.  Is that actually known or are people just guessing based on the released info from MS and Sony?

Well we don't know how much X360 or Ps3 has sold either.  Once again we just know the shipped numbers.  Companies dont give out numbers that retailers has sold.  They give numbers that they have sold to retailers.  Vgchartz is trying to show numbers that retailers has sold.

Ill use the most recend Tomb Raider as an example.  It has shipped i think 3.4m so far?  But it has only sold around 1.5m.  There is still another 2m in stores waiting to be sold.

That much I know. And I know people estimate that there is usually around 1.5 million (give or take) consoles sitting on shelves, which then given the shipment numbers we are given we should be able to estimate and be pretty close to actual sold to consumer numbers.

The way I look at it is it is a bunch of rabbid fans making guesses.  I would tust a source that is actually using data like vgchartz instead of random fans guessing.  That is just my opinion though.

It all comes down to  how muc retailers have faith in the product and how much the company thinks they can sell within a time limit.  If Sony thinks they can sell 5 million Ps3's in a qaurter they will ship 5 million PS3s.  Doesnt guarnantee that the retailer sells them all though.

Has nintendo release the Europe sold to consumer data that it usually releases for the consoles?  Or do they just do shipped too?

To companies shipped means sold so I assume that it means shipped for them as well.  I dont know if they have released the europe number though.

of course it's outpacing Uncharted 3. it's a fresh game against a tired trilogy. it has the wow factor and uncharted doesn't anymore
not every game series abides by the copy-paste-sell rules of COD and such

How is this a flame war thread?  You are the first person i believe to say anything negative in this thread. Uncharted sold 1.3 million which is amazing for first week.  I am happy because Id like to see this do as well as uncharted even though it is a long shot.  A trilogy also has a better chance of selling well than a new ip.

And we arent on twitter.

You know usually Jaywood's threads turn into shitstorms. (yeah I went there Jaywood ;-P) But this one seems pretty reasonable to me.  Don't see anything wrong with it.
