What is this article talking about, Ouya is not a competitor and Project Shield has flop written all over it.

These words hardly need to be written. Of course there's no chance a console can compete without complete third party or world-leading first-party support. Hardware and price is irrelevant.

Ouya is just so you can play your phone games on a TV with a controller. It's not trying to be more than that. They're going for hardware profit per unit.

Shield is a vehicle for promoting Nvidia's failing Tegra SoC line. They can't compete with Qualcomm/Apple/Samsung's chips on power consumption or memory bandwidth so they will not be picked up by phone companies. They don't even expect it to sell, they just want the PR and articles.

Well of course these new comers will flop. Everyone will be go for the ps4,720, or Wii u this holiday season. No one is going to ask their parents for an ouya or gamestick and most ps3 fans will go to ps4 and most 360 fans will go to 720 [unless that always on rumor is true]. New comers always flop unless they have great 1st party support like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft has. Its happened every gen will keep happening.

Disagree with Oculus. Its not a console. For people with glasses there are several strength lenses so they don't need glasses and also its NOT a Consumerproduct its for Developers to learn to make games forthe Oculus. Ofcourse VR is not ready yet, this is what Oculus is all about. Making VR ready for the Consumer, improving the quality and decreasing sideeffects. The finished Oculus Rift will probably come in 2 years. Holiday 2014 is rumored.

If one of the "alternative" consoles can run my steam account, is priced reasonably, and has k/m controller option with ease, I'll get one without a doubt.

How about a Steambox? :P
