Actually you're right. Tomb Raider was originally released on Saturn and then ported a year later to PS. I guess that means all my examples are wrong now. Sigh.

The thing is that Capcom announced the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 with added extra content before the release of the Gamecube version, and that hurt sales. Capcom later did a simple Wii port of the Gamecube version of RE4 (with the added PS2 content & Wii controls) and the game sold really well. In fact, if you look at sales (GC + Wii sales) > PS2 sales |
Every resevil game has been multiplat. The game was never an exclusive on sony platforms, only a timed exclusive, and even then not by much. Like I said, whoever said RE going from exclusive to mulitplat obviously has no idea that resevil was never exclusive.

Good one.

The Kingdom Hearts games never went multiplat, they just changed consoles.

Games on PC don't tend to interrupt historical console games. We've always considered exclusive to mean console exclusive here on vgc...otherwise 360 wouldn't have any exclusives.

Looks like a win for Ninja Theory, especially when you also throw in Enslaved.
So Prof; i'm curious, do you accept that your original hypothesis is incorrect (or should i say the smallest reason why those titles have not sold as well)?

But then, Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad would still be a 360 exclusive, which crushes the competition without a blink. I mean, not even The Last Of Us can hold against that game.
Sometimes the franchise just isn't as much in demand. Additionally, with this last gen the console market isn't so heavily Sony... many of those that bought it on PS2, now own a 360 meaning the combined sales are accurate and would have been significantly less had it only been on one console, regardless of which one.
