I don´t know why people are fighting for.

The only way PS4 to be significtanly more powerfull than the next Xbox is that the PS4 to be significtanly more expencive than the next Xbox.

Well, the 360 was release one year prior to the PS3 and cheaper, however few games have shown that the PS3 was any better.

Sony can´t do magic in the hardware, but Microsoft can do magic int the midware or SO.

The next Xbox may be less powerful to reduce the costs and price if it will indeed come packed with Kinect 2.0 in as standard.

Doesn't the PS4 come with PSEye as well?

Again, according to VGLeaks. http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/08/ps4-could-come-bundled-with-a-dual-camera-playstation-eye-rumor/

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Not likely, they would have talked about the new PSeye at the PS4 reveal if it did, as it would be a major feature.

Finally a real developer talks about Nextbox and not some disgruntled out of the loop developer or indie developer who hasn't even seen the console.

Anyone expecting some huge difference between the two is just kidding themselves. And as gamers, everyone should hope they are as close to one another as possible to ensure parity. Would you Sony guys like it if it was the PS2/Xbox all over again, where you had much better hardware but were just treated to Nextbox ports all gen? Not good for anyone.

Hate to break it to you, but the PS4 controller won't work without the PS4 Eye.  So it must be included.

Is that a fact? Where did you get this info?

DIfference is one is performing 64 threads while the other is doing 32.  As I stated this is what the poster draws his conclusion that the 12 SC or Shared Cores he likes to called it is actually an Array of 4 CU cores instead of just being one CU core.

No. You are reading wrong... the memory mapping is 64bits not 64 threads and each CU have 64 threads.

VGLeaks just use wrong terms.

- as SMID is CU (in vgleak term)

 - each SMID = 64 thread lockstep (Vgleak term)
 - each CU : 16 Operation /cycle across 4 ALU = 64 ALU per cycle/lockstep

 - in Vgleak term Thread = ALU
 - in vgleak 1 Operation = 4 Thread

Edit - Fixed.

Ok that makes sense.  I just did some more digging and see that vgLeaks is confusing a SIMD with a CU because here is what they say about the PS4 arch in this artical.

http://www.vgleaks.com/worl...

UPDATE: some people is confused about the GPU, here you have more info about it:

Each CU contains dedicated:

- ALU (32 64-bit operations per cycle)

This is from vgleaks concerning the PS4 GPU specs.  From there statement they are saying that the ALU executes 32 operations per CPU clock cycle.  Which would mean either the CU unit on the PS4 has only 2 SIMD or they were just wrong in their assessment.

Bad news for Nintendo, good news for both MS and Sony. Seriously though, did anyone not expect them to be close? This also means that the nextbox will be similar in price to PS4...or more expensive if they bundle Kinect.

Not really, Kinect is a mish-mash of cheap components sold for juicy profit as an accessory. Integrated into the console from design phase it's not going to be a significant cost overhead - at least in terms of production cost, assuming the external part is just the optics.

What happened in here? -_-

Is them being similar that big of a deal that you all are going to argue about it for 9 pages? What is the big deal here that everybody has to argue?

In one of the PS4 GDC conversations, a Sony exec is talking about the features of the PS4.  Two of the features discussed would require the PS4 Eye.  The use of the controller similar to the Move, with the camera being able to detect the controller position, and the ability for the controller to identify the player by controller color, and positioning the split screen based on where the player is seated.

So player 1 is always Blue.  Player 2 is Red (?).  Player 3 is Green.  Player 4 is Yellow(?).

None of these features were discussed as optional, but rather OOTB experiences.  Features that developers are programming for, and gamers should expect the PS4 to include.

It's a civil conversation.  What more do you want?
