Forums - Sony - My Phat PS3 has YLOD, what PS3 replacement should I get?

My UK original 60Gb has just YLOD last week and I'm having to replace it ASAP.

I've looked around at some of the best deals in the UK, but am unsure what to do.

Currently the best options for me are:

  • NEW PS3 SuperSlim 12Gb inc extra Dual Shock Controller - £159.99 (free £10 gift voucher with purchase) - ARGOS
  • NEW PS3 SuperSlim 12Gb - £139.99 - TESCO
  • PreOwned PS3 Slim 120Gb - £129.99 - GAME (includes 12 month refurbished warranty)

And one final one, although not sure if I can afford to push up to £179.99, but:

  • NEW PS3 SuperSlim 500Gb - £179.99 - THE HUT (by using their Easter £20 off £150 or over)

So guys, should I go for the new SuperSlim or get an older Slim?  The old Slim certainly look better, but I can get a new SuperSlim for roughly the same cost?

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

go with the 12GB slim, if you want the extra controller get the more expensive one. then replace the hard drive with your original 60GB one.

pro owned slim is the best. The new slim looks fragile. The cover mechanism is actually pretty fun though for the super slim.

Yeah, cheers, I saw that deal, but reckon I want to pick one up ASAP and this can take 7 working days to be delivered....so was looking at the Tesco deal as the cheapest readily available deal or the Argos one, which OK is £20 more, but seeing as I don't actually have a DualShock3 as I only have the one original controller with the PS3 Phat.....that might be a good deal?

But 12gb is way to little especially if you have a lot of games. Unless you are recycling the harddrive which in that case go for the cheapest superslim you can find.

Do this. Or alternatively save that money and put it towards the PS4 when it comes out later this year.

This option may sound "meh" (But I think this is a pretty good option! ;_;), but...why not try to fix it instead? When my 360 RROD on me, I fixed it following some google's guide. It's not like I know about these things, but you never know!
