You do realize God of War: Ascension sold about 700,000 units first week? Can somebody who's bothered to sign up to this site really have such poor analytical skills? I don't mean to be offensive but if you think it will struggle to reach 1 million by early June then you probably shouldn't share your estimates on here. God of War: Ascension could very likely hit 1 million next week, if not then it'll definitely pass 1m by it's 3rd week. The game will sell at least 2 million this year and 4+ million lifetime. How many hack 'n slashers have been that successful this generation or the past 10 years outside of the God of War franchise? Not many, I can only think of 1 game. And it's pretty common knowledge people, Sony Santa Monica ARE 100% working on a new IP, check out this developers bio on Twitter https://twitter.com/jonathanhawkins . Their next game will be a new IP for the PS4 which will probably launch in 2014 and God of War IV will launch in 2016. And to those saying God of War needs to take a long break, did you not realise that 3 years went by after God of War III released until we got another God of War game? Why should SSM have to wait 4+ years per new iteration release whereas franchises in other genres don't? This is why the genre is so small, it gets so much shit from people because you have a franchise like God of War where every critic/hardcore forum-dweller expects each new iteration to revolutionize the formula or the games become 'stale' and have to be rebooted to make it 'relevant' like DmC but games in other genres like FPS (COD,Halo), TPS (Uncharted, Gears of War [pre-judgment]) etc., get a free pass for not changing/evolving/revolutionizing at all and they release from more frequently. God of War gets far too much shit flung at it undeservedly, the games are consistently amazing but are judged a lot more harshly than pretty much everything else because the genre it's in isn't very beloved/popular. Yes I know that they're all critically acclaimed aside from GoW:A but they deserve a hell of a lot more praise for their quality and for keeping the genre alive.
