Wow Halo 4 crossed 5 million in the US alone! That's amazing. Hopefully it can cross 9 million worldwide this year.

I dont think that people get tired of Kratos. I think people are saturated by greec mythology. Its the same with the zombie movies. If you get to many than people will lose interest, so you have to wait some years before making another zombie movie.

I think for the new God of War game there are many factors counting

1. Its a prequel
2. at the end of the gen
3. with less hype
4. greece mythology already beiing milked in games and TV
5. plus bad reviews( which convince many people to wait until the games get cheaper)

So this might be one of the lowest selling God of War games but right now its to eraly to tell. We must see how its legs are and how much it get bundled.

Anything between 2 and 4 million can happen.

Where do you buy your can of worms for bait? Because it looks like you love fishing for reasons to justify whats happening :P.

#4 really made me lol.

Hopefully NPD GOW sales will be higher just like GOW3. Otherwise pretty poor performance.

At sales 2099: If a game like God of War Ascension has an opening of about 700k units ( i expected it by seeing those numbers) compared to an openinmg of about 1.3 M from God of War 3than i surely search for reasons why this happened. Or is there anything wrong with what i am doing?

Than we have a history of gaming and its a szenario likely to compare with God of War 2. God of War 2 also released at the end of the PS2 gen and yet it also sold less than God of War 1. So many games sell less at the end of a current gen which is normal and one of the reasons for such an opening. Many people arent willing to spend a lot of money in current gen games as they likely will wait for next gen and safe money for that.

Than we have reason 4 which is surly a reason. One of the critism and wishes from the fans are a new mythology and a new setting. Some God of War Fans getting tired of that greece setting because its done. What more monsters will you kill. All the gods are killed. Its simply done. And than we have all the TV Series like Sparta and so on plus all the filma sbout greece mythology (Clash of the Titans ,300). So its only natural that some people have enough from greece movies and games. Do you understand.

And now i give you another reasons. VG charts has an history of undertracking God of War games. This will probably also the case for God of War Ascension. So the real opening and lifetime sales will probably a lot higher if we take God of War 3 for an example.

No, betrayal doesn't count when talking about franchise fatigue because barely anyone played it.

Maybe you should read your post again then.

Yes, Betrayal does count when talking about franchise fatigue. It's a God of War game. And you have no idea how many people played it. At least you're finding some new way to minimalize it and are past the stage where you don't even know it exists lol.

But hey, lets play your selective existence game where it doesn't exist. You're still talking about 6 games in 8 years. Not to mention a whopping 3 different collections on PS3. Other people in this thread were quick to deflect to Gears of War and in that case you're talking about 4 games in 7 years and AFAIK, 1 collection. Could be wrong there on the collections. I have no problem with someone saying people might be tiring of Gears. You see it all the time in Halo threads too, and in that case it's like 7 games and a re-release in like 11 years. Double standards much?

It's not a stretch whatsoever to think people may be tired of the story of Kratos. Just one observation after a small amount of sales data. Hope that helps.
