Forums - Sales - Global HW & SW 16th March 2013 Up

I expect a much higher FW for Gears in these regions, but GoW will probably have slightly better legs. Honestly it is hard enough to believe these numbers. FW for GoW 3 US was almost double to GoW 3 EU so rest of EU for GoWA could be around 180k. But that would be insane.

Gears of War Judgement isn't even made by Epic. Isn't Ascension a SMS title? Not really comparable imho, but I do agree that Judgement sales won't match the predecessors.

But still, that's only the 4th Gears game in the franchise. This is the 7th God of War title. And unlike Gears, which revolves around multiple characters and story lines, God of War is all Kratos. Seems people have had enough. Can't wait to see what else SMS can do.

7th?

There have been 2 PS2 games, 2 PS3 games and 2 PSP games. 2 games on average per platform. Meanwhile, there are 4 Gears game on a single platform.

There have been 7 God of War games. I don't GAF about your single platform qualifier, it's irrelevant. Not sure why some of you are so defensive about the lower sales.

Regarding Gears, someone else brought that into the discussion (defense mechanism I guess), I was just pointing out a difference. I never said or implied that Gears has not run its course this gen. The latest entry was not even made by the original developers. So whatever lol.

"Defensive about the lower sales"? What are you talking about? I was correcting you. There have been 6 God of War games. Please don't tell me you're counting that 2007 mobile game as a GoW game...

I don't GAF about who said what. I was replying to your post.

you are wrong. Clearly there has been 10 GoW titles

Why are you counting the collections? oO

Uhm okay, Gears: J wasn't made by epic and only 4 God of War games were made by SSM. So whatever lol (I honestly don't see how that's relevant)

Of course Betrayal counts. Let me know when this supposed correction actually takes place.

Not going to even bother with the Gears of War stuff though, don't see what any of that matters to my post.

yes by making a logical counter-point I knew you would say it if I didn't mention it before hand.  My persecution complex?  Well at least you're being original.  Also GoW2 sold less than 1 does that mean people were tired of it then?  Guess so.  There are loads of other factors than people getting tired of it, which I'm not saying is out of the question, though I would say it's more tired of the character or setting than the gameplay or structure.  So a game in Norse or Egyptian mythology can shoot numbers even beyond GoW3.

How much less did God of War 2 sell? The way you're harping on it, I'd assume it must be a substantial amount. Like a million or more.

And tired of the character and setting is just another way of saying they're tired of God of War. No need to pretty it up. I would be pretty disappointed if SMS really did stop making God of War and instead of just made God of War Viking or God of War Egypt.

So you're disappointed by Infamous Second Son?  How about other spin offs that switched characters?  Halo Reach?  Hell call it something different if you want but keep that awesome gameplay, scale, and structure.  I wanna kill Odin, Thor, and Loki or Anubis, Ra, and a Sphinx.

Me and my brother are dreaming about the possibility of a GoW with Egyptian mythology. O_O

Infamous should have ended after the incredible first game, so yes, another game set in that same universe is not as appealing to me as something new. Not really comparable anyway, there have been 2 Infamous games and an add-on compared to 7 GoW games that span two generations. Idk about Reach, I am not a big Halo fan. I played a few hours of MP in it and it was Halo.

How would they end it without ever revealing the beast which the first game ended on a huge cliffhanger about?  Like 90% of fans I'm not ever going to play the phone game of GoW so that one hasn't tired me out and of course there is still demand for the series.  Don't you think being a prequel, at the end of PS3, and being the second game on the console has SOMETHING to do with those sales (which are still damn good and it'll at least make above 3m and above 4 with bundles)?

I think it's ridiculous how this topic turned out, especially when some continue to, attempt, to justify comments that are not universal.

Too bad, the mobile game is actually pretty good.

Bundling the game to get good sales is not much of an accomplishment imho and I think the game will get lucky to hit 3 million. But no, I think the lower sales are a result of people just being tired of Kratos. The 2nd biggest factor imho is the MP aspect of the game. But overall people just don't see the need to play yet another GoW prequel imho.

We'll see the same thing with Judgement.
