Why doesn't Vgchartz wait for new games to be out for a full week before posting sales data? Full week sales would be something like this; USA: 475,000 & UK: 50,000. We know it sold around 25,000 in Japan week one too, so far that's 550,000 first week before we even see how it did in the rest of Europe.

God of War: Ascension's first FULL week should be around 650,000. It should make it to 1 million next week/ 2.0+ million this year/ 4.0+ million lifetime. Amazing sales for a prequel in a dead genre in which nothing else comes close.

Also God of War is HUGELY popular in Brazil/Latin America and it's very popular in India and quite poplar in Russia which are both emerging markets that obviously aren't tracked. This is probably why the series was/is so massively under-tracked.

Anyway God of War: Ascension and the God of War Saga are going to see an enormous boost in the USA next week thanks to GameStops new deal where if you buy God of War: Ascension you get the God of War Saga Collection free. It's already at the #1 & #2 spots GameStops bestsellers list, I'm not talking about just for PS3 either, they are at the top 2 spots including EVERYTHING, even outselling Gears of War: Judgment which is at #3 overall.

honestly, after seeing how badly every god of war game in tracked on vgchartz and how bad vgc tracking has been lately, ill be waiting for some offical word on GoW : A sales

Overall an God of War 2 like scenario as expected. Will self 3-3.5 million lifetime with future bundling.

god of war 2 was a sequel and it had better reviews.  Also it was the ONE big game left on PS2 at the time.  Ascension comes before last of us and Beyond.  It may be the biggest of those but it has company this time.

There have been 2 PS2 games, 2 PS3 games and 2 PSP games. 2 games on average per platform. Meanwhile, there are 4 Gears game on a single platform.

yeah there's a difference between keeping a franchise running and milking it on a single platform.  I wish there had been 2 less Ratchet games this gen as they'll have tired out the series for sales and given it a bad rep with these last 2.

There have been 7 God of War games. I don't GAF about your single platform qualifier, it's irrelevant. Not sure why some of you are so defensive about the lower sales.

Regarding Gears, someone else brought that into the discussion (defense mechanism I guess), I was just pointing out a difference. I never said or implied that Gears has not run its course this gen. The latest entry was not even made by the original developers. So whatever lol.

Please name the 7th one that I have no knowledge of.  How is a single platform irrelevant?  Mario has had a lot of main series entries, but they've been spread across 5 home consoles so it's we still eagerly anticipate the next.  It's not called being defensive.  It's called you making every bit of bad news for anything related to Sony seem worse than it is, downplaying anything bad for MS, downplaying any good news for Sony, and playing up anything decent for MS.  If you keep making statements that are inviting hostility don't act surprised or make the other person out to be defensive when you know perfectly well that what you said would result in people opposing it.  Your attack comes first, then people defend against it.  That doesn't make them defensive, but I don't even know why I'm trying to reason with you.  You'll probably just call me a fanboy or say I'm "catching feelings" but it needed to be said.

wow DS was really adjusted down. looks like the number od DS over tracker are similar to the number of 3DS's undertracked. maybe some sort of mix up? lol

those seem like pretty drastic mistakes for PS3, 3DS, 360, and DS.  Especially when DS is getting close to PS2 that could make the difference.

I'd say the GoW re-releases show the quality of the game in that people are willing to pay for an HD update with trophies and that that strategy can be used effectively to build a game's userbase by allowing newcomers to catch up on the series as GoW3 saw more sales than the previous 2.
