Get a Wii U, why? Because it is outside of your bubble :).

TBH I would rather have a 3DS than a Wii U, I like Japanese games (which is why I make a big deal about when they come to PC like Darck Souls, Recettear etc), but the ones I am interested in are mostly on handhelds anyway which is why I have had a GBC, GBA, DS. I have tried Mario games they are just not my thing, the only pure platforming game I ever got into was Sonic 2 and I played that mostly co-op lol. The only Nintendo franchise I really like (not that I haven't played the others) is Pokemon and Metroidvania Metroid but they don't make those anymore. If getting out of my bubble means playing games I just plane don't like I will stay in my bubble thank you very much, I already play games from dozens of genres from all over the world from one man teams to AAA blockbusters I think I already have a bigger bubble than most.

The only reason I would really get a Wii U is to play a few of the Wii games I missed, but if I wanted to do that I would just dive into getting Dolphin set up or just get a god damn Wii. I mean aparently they fucked up the backwards compatability mode for the PAL reigon on the Wii U as well.

Ok that comes off as rather hostile/defensive but fuck it.

Ahah I never consider any of your posts hostile. I said that because I was thinking the same thing as you except instead of PS3 or PS4. I was thinking PC games or PS4. Then I thought why not branch out and get a Wii U. I have not gotten one yet, but Pikmin 3 is increasingly on my mind :). If Wii U is not even a glimmer in your mind, then I would say PS3. However before getting anything be mindful of upcoming price cuts.

Around the Network

PS4's future is uncertain and it'll still be a long while before it gets a lot of great games. May as well just go for the PS3 for half the price.

I see me and 8 other people have the right idea.

If you don't want to go with that, I suggest the PS3. I mean, duh! The PS3 has a much larger library than the PS4. And so what about the graphical capabilities? (PS3's are fine, anyway.)

So defensive then, got it. I did consider Wii U breifly when Nintendo had that big even where they announced X or whatever it's called. Then I realised that on reflection it's really not any more interesting that anything I could get if I got a PS3, other than the fact that the games are new which isn't that big a deal by it's self. Maybe if Nintendo managed to show a roadmap of ongoing support I would reconsider but as it stands now there is nothing terribly compelling for me coming to the Wii U it's self and I remain unconvinced that they will be able to maintain significant 3rd party support going forward and my general apethy to most of the games that Nintendo produce (not that I think they aren't great well made games, they are just not my thing) that really doesn't leave much hope. The 3DS as I said holds more apeal to me as a follower of the the DS but even that so far has not managed to gather a whole lot of compelling software ether with the latest Pokemon sadly looking to be going in a direction I don't really like and several of may favorite DS franchises ether MIA or basterdised with crappy polygons and substandard gameplay like Castlevania: Mirror of fate.

I would probably consider the Vita more if it wasn't for the cost, the memory cards and the OLED screen with it's burn in issues. That and there is also not a whole lot of compelling software there ether tho has the advantage of offering access to the PSP's back catalog of software. Sony really need to announce a cut price version with an LCD screen (I will sacrifice the beautiful bright high contrast of OLED for a high quality LCD that won't have the blue of elements of the screen die twice as fast as the other colours, and generally just shitty life expectancy leaving the screen looking like shit in a couple years) and 64GB of built in memory (flash is cheap and getting cheaper) or at least the option of using microSD cards as storage rather than their overpriced prapriatary bullshit.

Yay tangential rant, everyone loves those right?
